The open-air literary festival of the Barbara Allason Library in Pecetto Torinese
Scrittori sotto le stelle is the literary festival of Pecetto Torinese, a small town in the Chierese hills near Turin, famous throughout Piedmont for its cherries. Every year, between spring and summer, the Barbara Allason Municipal Library transforms the green space of the Town Hall park into an open-air literary salon, where authors present their books and engage in conversation with the public at dusk.
The festival is promoted by the Barbara Allason Municipal Library in collaboration with the Mondadori bookstore in Chieri and under the patronage of the Municipality of Pecetto Torinese. Launched in 2022, it has quickly become one of the most anticipated cultural events in the area, attracting prominent national writers, journalists, and public speakers to this small hillside town.
The evenings follow a simple and engaging format: a book presentation, a dialogue between the author and a moderator, and questions from the audience. Themes range from fiction to mountaineering, current affairs to technology, and philosophy to local storytelling. Meetings are generally held at 9:00 PM in the Town Hall park, at via Umberto I 3, and are moved to indoor municipal spaces in case of bad weather.
Overlooking the hills southeast of Turin, Pecetto Torinese is a popular destination for walks among cherry trees and for its events tied to local tradition, such as the famous Cherry Festival. The Scrittori sotto le stelle festival is part of this vibrant cultural season, offering residents and visitors a chance to combine a passion for reading with the beauty of the Piedmontese hillside landscape.
