Two nights of Sicilian street food and music in the heart of the village, in the province of Palermo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Sciara Street Food Fest is the premier summer event in the small town of Sciara, located in the province of Palermo, in the heart of the Valle del Torto. For two nights in August, the historic town squares transform into a large open-air market dedicated to Sicilian street food, live music, and conviviality. The event is completely free and organized by the Associazione Giovanile Sciarese with the support of the Municipality of Sciara and the Regional Department of Tourism, Sport, and Entertainment.
The heart of the festival lies in the food stalls that bring Piazza Castelreale and Piazza Salvatore Carnevale to life. Here, visitors can sample the very best of the island's street food, embarking on a culinary journey through Sicilian popular tradition:
The organizers prioritize local products, highlighting street food as a vital gastronomic and cultural heritage of the Sciara community.
Alongside the food, the Street Food Fest offers a rich entertainment program every year, featuring musical performances, folk groups, and free concerts that attract a wide audience. The square becomes a meeting point for families, young people, and visitors from neighboring towns, creating a festive atmosphere that lasts until late at night.
More than just a food festival, the Sciara Street Food Fest has evolved over the years into a moment of community pride and identity: a celebration of the joy of gathering in the squares to rediscover the authentic flavors of the region. The organization, led by the young members of the Associazione Giovanile Sciarese, showcases the vitality of a small community that uses food and music as a way to connect and promote their town.
Sciara is a small town in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, set within the hilly landscape of the Valle del Torto. Its location, a short distance from the Tyrrhenian coast and the Madonie mountains, makes the Street Food Fest an excellent opportunity to discover an authentic corner of inland Sicily, far from the main tourist circuits but rich in tradition and hospitality.
The 2026 edition of the Sciara Street Food Fest is expected, as per tradition, in the first half of August. The organizers from the Associazione Giovanile Sciarese have confirmed the event's continuity, but at the moment, the specific dates and program have not yet been made public. The return of Sicilian street food stalls in Piazza Castelreale and Piazza Salvatore Carnevale is expected, along with free shows and concerts. Information will be updated as soon as it is released by the organization.
The Street Food Fest traditionally takes place in the first half of August over two nights. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers.
