The taste of the Dolomites at zero kilometres
Schlerngenuss Dolomites is the early summer food and wine festival of the Alpe di Siusi Dolomites region (Seiser Alm-Schlerngebiet), the area at the foot of the Sciliar massif encompassing Fiè allo Sciliar (Völs am Schlern), Castelrotto, and Siusi. Organised by the Alpe di Siusi Tourist Board in collaboration with local hoteliers and restaurateurs, the event lasts two weeks and revolves around a simple yet demanding principle: cooking 100% with local products. The only exceptions allowed are oil, salt, pepper, and sugar: everything else comes directly from the farms, breeders, cheesemakers, herbalists, and vintners of the Sciliar area.
The Völser Dorfkuchl, the heart of the festival
The most anticipated moment is the Völser Dorfkuchl, the "village kitchen" of Fiè allo Sciliar. For one evening, the church square (Kirchplatz) turns into a true gourmet street: open-air kitchens where local chefs prepare their specialities, stalls set up by farms and local farmers, live music, and tastings of wines from the village's vintners. It is a unique opportunity to see how dishes are created from local ingredients, all within a festive atmosphere that brings the entire historic centre to life.
Menus, tours, and tastings throughout the region
During the two weeks, a selection of restaurants and farms in the area offer dedicated menus that blend traditional South Tyrolean cuisine with modern interpretations of Alpine cooking. The calendar is enriched by guided tours and tastings at farms, wineries, and distilleries, focusing on cheeses, herbs, wines, and spirits. The initiative was born with a spirit of sustainability: to promote local supply chains and strengthen collaboration between chefs, farmers, and local producers.
Where it takes place
The festival takes place throughout the Alpe di Siusi Dolomites region, in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol), with Fiè allo Sciliar serving as the venue for the Völser Dorfkuchl. It is a bilingual event, typical of South Tyrol, which combines mountain farming tradition with the pleasure of fine dining, all set against the backdrop of the Sciliar Dolomites.
Schlerngenuss Dolomites — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Schlerngenuss Dolomites was held from June 6 to 21 in the Alpe di Siusi Dolomites region, under the motto "100% von do" (100% from here): all dishes were prepared with local products, with the sole exception of oil, salt, pepper, and sugar. The festival was inaugurated by the Völser Dorfkuchl on June 6 in the church square of Fiè allo Sciliar.
Thirteen restaurants, farms, and hotels in the area participated, including the Romantik Hotel Turm, Restaurant St. Michael and Hotel Ristorante Alla Torre in Castelrotto, Restaurant Waldrast in Siusi, the alpine huts Ritsch Schwaige, Gostner Schwaige, Huber Schwaige, and Tirler Alm on the Alpe di Siusi, as well as Pitschlmann, Umser Mühlele, Hofer Alpl, and Restaurant Schönblick in the Fiè area. During the two weeks, guided tours and tastings were offered at farms, wineries, and distilleries in the Sciliar area.

Saturday, June 6 — Völser Dorfkuchl (Opening)
- From 6:30 PM — Church square (Kirchplatz) of Fiè allo Sciliar: open-air kitchens with local chefs, stalls from local farms, live music, and tastings of wines from Fiè vintners.
June 6-21 — Taste weeks throughout the region
- "100% local" menus in participating restaurants and farms (Fiè allo Sciliar, Castelrotto, Siusi, Alpe di Siusi).
- Guided tours and tastings at local farms, wineries, and distilleries (cheeses, herbs, wines, spirits).

How to get there
Fiè allo Sciliar can be reached from the A22 Brenner motorway, taking the Bolzano Nord exit and heading towards Alpe di Siusi. The area is also served by local bus lines; during peak season, we recommend using public transport to reach the town centre.
