The Savigliano Carnival

The Savigliano Carnival is one of the most anticipated winter events in Savigliano, a city in the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont. Every year, the grand Piazza del Popolo, the city's living room, transforms into an open-air theater where confetti, streamers, and masks fill the afternoon with color and joy. It is a deeply rooted popular festival, organized by the historic Mutual Aid Society with the patronage of the Municipality of Savigliano.

Sarasèt and Sarasëtta, the city's masks

At the heart of the event are the two historic Savigliano masks, Sarasèt and Sarasëtta, who lead the festivities alongside the city's entire Mask Group. Their figures represent the carnival identity of Savigliano and accompany young and old throughout the afternoon with greetings, dances, and entertainment that engage the crowd in the square.

A festival for families

The Savigliano Carnival is an event dedicated in particular to families and children. The program includes games, entertainment, and music, with hosts and DJs entertaining the public from the stage. For children, there is a face painting stand and a balloon station, while the 'ludobus' (mobile play bus) brings plenty of games to the square.

A traditional snack

There is no shortage of the delicious snack offered for free to all participants: apple fritters, bread with Nutella, and hot chocolate, prepared and distributed thanks to the efforts of the Pro Loco of Savigliano and Levaldigi, the Alpini of Savigliano and Levaldigi, and the Savigliano Red Cross. It is a convivial moment that warms up the winter afternoon and brings the entire community together.

A shared tradition

The Savigliano Carnival is the result of collaboration between numerous local associations, which every year combine their energy and volunteers to give the city a simple, joyful, and completely free festival.
