Carnival returns to the heart of Sassuolo

After years of absence, the Sassuolo Carnival rediscovers its square. Right in the historic center, Piazza Garibaldi transforms for an afternoon into a large open-air theatre, enlivened by shows, colors, and masks. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Sassuolo together with the Sassuololtre association, was born with the declared aim of bringing back a long-forgotten tradition to the square and keeping the heart of the city, in the province of Modena, alive and vibrant.

A party designed for the little ones

The Sassuolo Carnival is an event entirely dedicated to children and families. The Administration invites all the little ones to participate in costume, to color the streets of the center and experience an afternoon of lightheartedness together. It is not a large parade of floats, but an intimate and participatory square party, where the focus is entirely on children's fun and the rediscovery of the city's public spaces.

Shows and entertainment

The afternoon is marked by numerous free attractions that follow one another in the square:

• Giant bubbles that fly over the children's heads;
• Micro magic show to amaze young and old;
• Stilt walkers to scenographically animate the space;
• Creative workshops on the Carnival theme;
• Face painting station to transform into a thousand characters;
• Puppet show by the Verso Te APS association, in the tradition of figure theatre.

A piece of the Modena Carnival

The Sassuolo event is part of a broader carnival fervor that, every year, animates many municipalities in the province of Modena and Emilia-Romagna, from Formigine to Casalgrande. In Sassuolo, however, the party takes on a strong identity value: the return of the Carnival in Piazza Garibaldi is the symbol of a community reclaiming its spaces and its popular traditions.
