About Santuario Festival

The Santuario Cultural Festival is a series of meetings promoted by the Santa Maria La Nova Parish in Pulsano, in the province of Taranto. Each evening, a prominent guest—writers, poets, philosophers, and scholars—engages with the public on a major existential theme: following the focus on forgiveness in the 2025 inaugural edition, the 2026 edition is dedicated to fragility. A cultural and spiritual project created to support the growth of the entire Apulian community.

A cultural festival in the heart of Pulsano

The Santuario Cultural Festival is a young series of meetings held in Pulsano, a town in the province of Taranto overlooking the Ionian Sea, in the heart of the Ionian Puglia region. The initiative is promoted by the Santa Maria La Nova Parish, the sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, with the patronage of the municipal administration. The underlying idea is simple yet ambitious: to offer the community a serious cultural contribution capable of intertwining the spiritual dimension with the great questions of contemporary humanity.

A different theme every year

The festival's formula revolves around a guiding theme that changes with each edition and runs through the various evenings. The 2025 inaugural edition was dedicated to forgiveness, a common thread in dialogue with the Jubilee Year; the 2026 edition instead chooses fragility, a universal condition that touches everyone's life. Each evening, a different guest—magistrates, writers, poets, theologians, philosophers, and psychoanalysts—addresses the theme from their own perspective, offering the public a plural and never predictable outlook.

The guests

The strength of the festival lies in the quality of the invited speakers. In its first editions, the festival brought well-known voices of the Italian cultural scene to Pulsano, including former magistrate Gherardo Colombo, Baptist pastor Lidia Maggi, psychoanalyst Massimo Recalcati, poet and landscape expert Franco Arminio, writer Daniele Mencarelli, and philosopher Michela Marzano. The meetings, always held in the evening, take place in the parish spaces—the church and the oratory—in an atmosphere of listening and open dialogue with the community.

An initiative of the parish community

The Santuario Cultural Festival stems from the desire of the Santa Maria La Nova community to promote culture in the area, stepping beyond strictly liturgical boundaries to offer a city-wide event. The evenings, which require a ticket, support the parish's activities and transform the sanctuary into a place of encounter, reflection, and shared growth.

Pulsano, between sea and culture

Awarded the Blue Flag for the quality of its waters, Pulsano enjoys a summer full of events between beaches, traditions, and food and wine. The sanctuary festival adds a more intimate and meditative proposal to this calendar, inviting residents and visitors to pause in the evening to reflect together on what truly matters.

Santuario Festival — edition 2026

The second edition of the Santuario Cultural Festival in Pulsano takes place from July 27 to 29, 2026, at the Santa Maria La Nova Parish. Three evenings of meetings dedicated to the theme of fragility, with prominent guests from the Italian cultural scene: poet Franco Arminio, writer Daniele Mencarelli, and philosopher Michela Marzano.

For its second edition, the Santuario Cultural Festival chooses fragility as its guiding theme, a human condition to be explored through the voices of three prominent guests. The events take place in the spaces of the Santa Maria La Nova Parish in Pulsano, in the province of Taranto, starting at 8:30 PM.

Following the success of the inaugural edition dedicated to forgiveness, the festival confirms its formula: an existential theme addressed each evening by a different guest, in dialogue with the Pulsano community and those who reach the sanctuary during the summer evenings.
