The patronal feast of Lenta in honor of Saint Olympius the Martyr

The Sant'Olimpio Festival is the patronal feast of the municipality of Lenta, a small village in the Province of Vercelli, Piedmont, nestled on the left bank of the Sesia river on the edge of the picturesque Baragge Nature Reserve. Every year, around mid-June, the Lenta community gathers to honour its patron saint, Saint Olympius the Martyr, whose feast day is traditionally celebrated on June 16th.
The festival combines religious and popular elements. The spiritual heart of the celebration is the Church of Sant'Olimpio, rebuilt at the end of the 17th century and embellished with frescoes by Peracino, where services in honour of the patron saint are held. Alongside the moments of devotion, the village comes alive with initiatives organised by the community, enlivening the evenings with conviviality and celebration.
One of the hallmarks of the festival is its gastronomic offering: every evening, stands are set up with traditional Piedmontese and Valsesia dishes, accompanied by musical evenings and entertainment for all ages. Over the years, the festival has featured dance nights, DJ sets, and live music, turning the town centre into a meeting place for the inhabitants of Lenta and the surrounding towns.
The festival is also the ideal opportunity to discover Lenta and its historical heritage: in addition to the Church of Sant'Olimpio, the village preserves the Benedictine Monastery of San Pietro, founded in 1127, and the Romanesque Pieve di Santo Stefano, built in the 11th century. The town is part of the "Borghi delle vie d'acqua" (Waterways Villages) network and represents a pleasant destination for those wishing to combine tradition, faith, and nature in the heart of the Bassa Valsesia area of Vercelli.
The festival takes place in the historic centre of Lenta. For updated details on dates and the programme, it is advisable to contact the Municipality of Lenta or follow local community channels, as the calendar may vary from year to year.
For 2026, the patronal feast of Lenta is scheduled for the weekend of June 13-14, following the traditional mid-June timing linked to the feast of Saint Olympius. Available sources do not yet provide a detailed programme for this edition: in continuity with previous years, religious services in honour of the patron saint, typical food and wine stands, and evenings of music and celebration in the historic centre are expected. For details on times and events, it is recommended to contact the Municipality of Lenta.
Lenta is located in the Province of Vercelli, Piedmont. By car, it can be reached from the A26 motorway (Romagnano Sesia-Ghemme exit), continuing towards the Bassa Valsesia area. The reference railway station is Romagnano Sesia, just a few kilometres from the village.
