The patronal feast of the village of Rizzolaga, blending faith, music, and tradition on the Piné Plateau
In the small hamlet of Rizzolaga, part of the municipality of Baselga di Pinè in the province of Trento, the Sant'Antonio Festival is one of the most cherished events on the local calendar. In mid-June, as the Piné Plateau is painted with the colors of early summer, the community gathers around its church dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua to celebrate the patron saint with a festival that weaves together devotion and conviviality.
The religious heart of the festival is the Holy Mass in the old village church, followed by the evocative procession with the statue of Saint Anthony through the streets of Rizzolaga. It is the most intimate and deeply felt moment of the celebration, where villagers accompany the saint through the streets, following a tradition passed down from generation to generation. The Rizzolaga church, with its arches, mullioned windows, and bell tower, also houses a fine Mascioni organ, a precious instrument of the Italian organ-building tradition.
Once the liturgical part concludes, the festival moves to the church square, which comes alive with a bar and food service, musical entertainment, and games designed for children: inflatables and pedal go-karts. It is the moment when the village becomes a meeting point for families, residents, and visitors, in a simple and genuine atmosphere that is the true soul of Trentino village festivals.
The event is organized by the Capusati-Scaladi Association, born from the merger of the historic Scaladi and Capusati associations, which keeps this tradition alive and manages the hospitality every year. The Sant'Antonio Festival in Rizzolaga perfectly represents the spirit of the village festivals of the Piné Plateau, in Trentino-Alto Adige: small-scale events where religious and community life merge into a weekend of celebration open to everyone.
The 2026 edition of the Sant'Antonio Festival in Rizzolaga held special value, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Scaladi association (1976), now part of the Capusati-Scaladi association that organizes the event. Alongside the traditional Mass and procession, the edition featured the inauguration of the church's Mascioni organ, which was recently restored, as well as the usual festivities in the square with food, music, and children's games.
The festival is held in Rizzolaga, a hamlet of Baselga di Pinè (TN), at the church of Saint Anthony of Padua and the adjacent square, on the Piné Plateau.
By car: Baselga di Pinè can be reached from the Valsugana valley (take the exit for the Piné Plateau) or from Trento by heading up towards Pergine Valsugana and the plateau. Rizzolaga is a small village a short distance from the center of Baselga.
Participation in the festival is free. Food and drink service available for purchase in the square. Activities and games for children (inflatables and pedal go-karts) are available.
