The patronal feast of Maria SS. Assunta at the Baita Alpina, featuring local food stalls, alpine cuisine, and dance evenings
The Civezzano Festival, linked to the Assumption Feast, is the town's patronal celebration held in honor of Maria SS. Assunta on August 15th. It is held in the municipality of Civezzano, in the Autonomous Province of Trento, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige, just a few kilometers from the regional capital. The event has been organized for decades by the Gruppo Alpini ANA M.o Ferruccio Stefenelli, a historic local association founded in 1929, and takes place in the square adjacent to the Baita Alpina on Via Roma.
The event is deeply rooted in the long history of the local alpine association, named after Ferruccio Stefenelli, a Gold Medal recipient originally from Civezzano. Around the Assumption, the Alpini and their friends bring the town to life with days of celebration open to residents and visitors alike, in a community atmosphere that renews the bond between village life and Trentino's alpine traditions every year.
The traditional program of the festival includes:
The festival stands out for its genuine and popular character: not a large commercial event, but an authentic village feast curated by the volunteers of the Alpini Group.
The Assumption celebrations traditionally extend into the following weekend with the Festa de l'Otava (the Octave), held in the hamlet of Covelo. Here too, there is no shortage of music, dancing, alpine lunches, and the traditional morra tournament at the mountain hut, crowning the town's cycle of patronal festivities.
Situated in the heart of the Ferragosto holiday, the Civezzano Festival represents one of the traditional summer events in the area east of Trento. For those visiting Trentino in mid-August, it is an opportunity to experience a genuine village feast, discover alpine cuisine, and get to know the tradition of the Alpini, a cornerstone of Civezzano's social life.
The 2026 edition of the Civezzano Festival is expected on August 15, 2026, the day of the patronal feast of Maria SS. Assunta, at the Baita Alpina square on Via Roma. As per tradition, the Gruppo Alpini ANA M.o Ferruccio Stefenelli will manage the food stalls, the catering service with local specialties, and the music and dance evenings. The celebration will extend into the following weekend with the Festa de l'Otava in the hamlet of Covelo. The detailed program, with times and musical acts, will be communicated by the organizers closer to the event.
