The patronal feast of Camandona featuring local cuisine, music, and tradition
The Sant'Anna Festival is the heart of summer in Camandona, a small mountain town in the Province of Biella, Piedmont. Dedicated to the town's patron saint, it is organized with passion by the Pro Loco Camandona and has for generations been the primary gathering point for locals and the many visitors who head up into the Biellese highlands. The festival is held in the Falletti district, in the square, under the shade of the large trees that overlook the village from above.
The unique feature of the Sant'Anna Festival is its duration: the event spans two weekends in July, with indoor evenings in Piazza Falletti, as well as lunches and dinners on Sundays and Mondays. This format allows visitors to enjoy the festivities at a relaxed pace, between a dance evening and a traditional dish, without the rush of festivals concentrated into a single day.
Flavor is one of the fundamental ingredients of the festival. The Pro Loco Camandona kitchen offers the great classics of Biellese and Piedmontese cuisine: polenta, pasta dishes, grilled meats, mixed fried platters, and other specialties prepared by volunteers. The evenings are accompanied by live music and dance orchestras, in a convivial atmosphere that is the true soul of village festivals.
Beyond the gastronomy and music, the Sant'Anna Festival hosts two highly anticipated events. The Sant'Anna Trail Run leads enthusiasts along the paths connecting Camandona to the surrounding woods, in a landscape of great natural beauty. The Automotoraduno (car and motorcycle rally), now in its many editions, gathers vintage and modern vehicles for a parade and afternoon meet-up.
The religious and traditional dimension is also present, with Mass at the Sanctuary of the Mazzucco, a building dating back to 1662 nestled in a beech forest at an altitude of over 900 meters, one of the town's iconic landmarks. The Sant'Anna Festival thus combines faith, sport, motors, and good food into one great community celebration, deeply rooted in the life of Camandona.
The Sant'Anna Festival takes place in Piazza Falletti, in the Falletti district of Camandona (BI), Piedmont. The evening events are held indoors.
July, over two weekends. Evenings on Friday and Saturday, lunch and dinner on Sunday and Monday.
The festival is organized by the Pro Loco Camandona (Frazione Bianco n.1, 13821 Camandona). For information, menus, and reservations, it is recommended to check the Pro Loco website or the official Facebook page, where the poster and brochure with the full program are published.
Camandona can be reached by car from the Biella plains by driving up towards the highlands. Arriving by car is recommended given the town's mountain location.
