The San Marco Fair in Strigno

The San Marco Fair is one of the most characteristic spring markets in the Lower Valsugana. It takes place in Strigno, the historic center and main village of the Castel Ivano municipality, in Trentino-Alto Adige (Autonomous Province of Trento). The event falls every year on April 25th, the day dedicated to Saint Mark the Evangelist, and marks the symbolic beginning of the warm season in the Trentino valleys.

Flowers, plants, and everything for the garden

For one morning, the streets and squares of the town are transformed into a large open-air market entirely dedicated to greenery. Along the stalls in Piazza Municipio and Piazza della Chiesa, you will find balcony and garden flowers, ornamental and aromatic plants, vegetable seedlings, seeds, bulbs, and everything needed for the vegetable patch and garden: pots, soil, tools, and gardening equipment. It is the ideal occasion for those who, with the arrival of spring, are preparing balconies, vegetable patches, and flowerbeds for the warmer months ahead.

A Valsugana tradition

The San Marco Fair has its roots in the valley's farming tradition and remains a deeply felt gathering moment for the community of Castel Ivano and neighboring towns. Beyond shopping, the fair is a social event that enlivens the center of Strigno with the lively atmosphere typical of village markets. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Castel Ivano with the coordination of APT Valsugana.

When and where

The fair is held in the morning, approximately from 8:00 AM until noon, in the heart of Strigno. Thanks to its location along the Valsugana state road, the town is easily accessible from Trento, Tesino, and the Tesino Plateau, making it a pleasant stop for a spring outing to discover the area.
