The Vespa rally in the heart of the Casale Corte Cerro patronal feast
The San Giorgio Vespa Rally is one of the most anticipated spring events in Casale Corte Cerro, a town nestled between Lake Orta and the Ossola basin in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province (Piedmont). Originally a local initiative, the rally has become a permanent fixture in the San Giorgio patronal feast program, representing a festive day that unites fans of the legendary Pontedera scooter with the warmth of the local community.
The formula is tried and true: Vespa riders meet in the morning in the town square for registration, breakfast, and a display of their vehicles. From there, a scenic tour kicks off through the roads of the Ossola and Cusio areas, with a delicious stop for an aperitif at a local producer—in the last edition, this was hosted by the Faicheese company. The return to Casale is dedicated to a convivial lunch and the most anticipated moment of the day: the awards ceremony.
As per tradition, fun prizes are awarded that celebrate participation rather than competition:
The rally attracts enthusiasts from well beyond the municipal borders: riders arrive from all over the VCO, the Novara area, Valsesia, Varese, Lecco, the Acqui Terme area, and even from the Locarno region in the nearby Canton Ticino. It is a testament to how a small-town event can become a landmark for an entire community of enthusiasts while maintaining the genuine, family-like spirit of its origins.
The San Giorgio patronal feast is the time of year when Casale Corte Cerro celebrates its patron saint with religious services, events, and initiatives that bring the town to life for several days. The Vespa Rally has become one of its most popular secular events, capable of bridging generations and bringing color, engines, and joy to the town.
Casale Corte Cerro is located along the Sempione state road, easily accessible by car from the Gravellona Toce motorway exit (A26). The nearest train stations are Gravellona Toce or Omegna, on the Domodossola-Novara line.
Participation in the rally requires on-site registration in the morning, which includes a welcome breakfast. For details on registration fees, lunch, and the schedule for the current edition, we recommend checking the official Facebook page of the Vespa Raduno Casale Corte Cerro.
The event takes place outdoors: it is best to dress in layers and follow the organizers' instructions for the tour. The rally is open to both vintage and modern Vespa models.
