The spring festival in the village of Serso, held in the Serso Park in Pergine Valsugana
The San Giorgio Festival is one of the most cherished events in the village of Serso, located in the municipality of Pergine Valsugana, in the province of Trento, within the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Every year, at the end of April, Serso Park becomes the hub of village life: families, hikers, and visitors gather under the marquees, drawn by a program that blends tradition, hearty cuisine, and outdoor sports.
The heart of the festival is the kitchen, serving a menu dedicated to traditional Trentino dishes until late in the evening. Alongside the food stalls, the event offers music for all ages—ranging from rock and DJ sets to accordion performances—and a rich program of games and entertainment designed for children. The lottery is another highlight, with the winning tickets drawn on Sunday.
The San Giorgio Festival is also a celebration of sport. Saturday features the Trail del Drago, a non-competitive run through the woods surrounding Serso and Viarago, with routes of varying lengths suitable for both amateurs and those looking for a nature walk. Sunday is dedicated to the Marcia dei Montesei, a historic running event now in its fourth decade, which leads participants along the trails of the Pergine plateau.
The event is organized by Pro Loco Serso together with the Gruppo Scolette 2.0 APS, volunteer groups that bring the village to life. A portion of the festival's proceeds is traditionally donated to charity, reflecting the community spirit that defines the event. Admission to Serso Park is free.
Given the limited parking in the village, the organizers provide a free shuttle service on Friday and Saturday evenings, with round-trip routes from pickup points in Pergine Valsugana. It is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Valsugana valley, amidst folk traditions, mountain cuisine, and rolling hills.
The festival opened on Friday, April 24 at 7:00 PM and brought Serso Park to life until Sunday, April 26. On Saturday, the festivities continued from 2:30 PM until late at night, while the Sunday program ran from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, featuring the traditional lottery draw.
On the sports front, the 4th Trail del Drago enlivened the day on Saturday, April 25, with a run through the woods of Serso, while the 42nd Marcia dei Montesei took place on Sunday, April 26. The free shuttle service was confirmed for Friday and Saturday evenings, from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM.
Serso is a village in Pergine Valsugana (TN), accessible by car via the SS47 Valsugana state road. By train, the nearest station is Pergine Valsugana on the Trento-Venice line (Valsugana Railway).
Parking in the village is limited: on Friday and Saturday evenings, a free round-trip shuttle service operates from the ice rink and Villa Rosa, starting approximately at 9:00 PM.
