Valenza's patron saint festival featuring live music and street food on Viale Oliva
The San Giacomo Patronal Feast is the most anticipated summer event in Valenza, a town in the Province of Alessandria known worldwide for its goldsmithing tradition. The celebration is tied to July 25th, the day the Church honors Saint James the Greater, the city's patron saint. Around this date, the town center transforms for several evenings into a vibrant space for popular festivities, filled with music, entertainment, and great food.
The heart of the event is Viale Oliva, where a large stage is set up each night and food stalls come to life from the early evening. The program typically spans four consecutive nights, from Thursday to Sunday, featuring concerts, tribute bands, dance shows, and evenings dedicated to dancing with the participation of local dance schools.
In recent editions, the festival has offered a varied and popular lineup that appeals to all generations: tribute bands dedicated to the great names of Italian music, 90s-themed dance shows, swing and revival nights, and moments dedicated to local dance schools. The formula combines quality entertainment with a small-town atmosphere, where families stroll among the stalls and stop to enjoy traditional dishes.
The San Giacomo Patronal Feast is organized by the Pro Loco of Valenza with the patronage of the Municipality of Valenza and represents a moment of strong identity for the community. The patron saint's week is often enriched by side events, including the StraValenza non-competitive fun run, a charity event that winds through the historic center and kicks off the festivities.
Visiting the festival is also an opportunity to discover Valenza, one of the world's jewelry hubs, nestled in the hilly landscape of Piedmont between the Monferrato and the Po Valley. The San Giacomo Feast, which is free and open to all, embodies the welcoming spirit of the city and offers residents and tourists a few evenings of music, flavors, and social interaction in the heart of summer.
The 2026 edition of the San Giacomo Patronal Feast will be held in Valenza during the week of July 25th, the liturgical feast day of the patron saint. The event confirms its summer location on Viale Oliva, the heart of the festivities, with four nights of live music, shows, and food stalls.
At the moment, the official program and final dates for 2026 have not yet been published: the confirmation of the annual recurrence is provided by the main event calendar of the Municipality of Valenza. The complete lineup, including the schedule, will be released by the organizers closer to the event. It is recommended to check the official channels of the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Valenza for updates.
The festivities take place on Viale Oliva and the streets of the center of Valenza (AL), Piedmont. Food stalls generally open in the early evening, and concerts typically start around 9:30 PM.
By car: Valenza is accessible via the A26 motorway (Casale Sud exit) or the A21; it is just a few kilometers from Alessandria. By train: Valenza station on the Alessandria-Mortara line. By plane: The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, and Turin Caselle.
