About San Bastian Festivals

In Ramandolo, a hillside hamlet of Nimis and the cradle of the sweet DOCG wine of the same name, the San Bastian Festivals celebrate centuries-old traditions over two weekends between late February and early March. Local cuisine, Ramandolo DOCG tastings, panoramic walks, Vespa and Ape rallies, and the traditional game of 'morra' tournament liven up the village.

The sweet wine of the Nimis hills

Ramandolo is a small hillside hamlet of Nimis, in the province of Udine, known throughout Italy for its wine: Ramandolo DOCG, a rare sweet passito obtained from Verduzzo Friulano grapes left to dry, the first Friulian wine to obtain the protected designation of origin.

It is in this village, surrounded by the northernmost vineyards in Italy, that the San Bastian Festivals take place.

Two weekends of tradition

The festival, dedicated to Saint Sebastian, is held over two weekends between late February and early March. The absolute protagonist is Ramandolo DOCG, to be tasted along with local dishes served at the stalls. But the festival is above all a tribute to the centuries-old traditions of the village: panoramic walks through the vineyards and hills, the rally of Vespas and Apes, tombola (bingo), musical evenings, and the unmissable 'morra' game tournament, accompanied by AperiMorra.

Organized by the Pro Loco of the Municipality of Nimis, the San Bastian Festivals preserve the genuine atmosphere of Friulian village festivals, with conviviality, music, and moments of devotion with sung Mass.

A village to discover

Visiting Ramandolo during the festival means discovering one of the most evocative corners of the Friulian hills: the terraced vineyards, the historic cellars, and a landscape that has a special charm in winter. A perfect opportunity for lovers of good wine and slow tourism.
