Two days of Argentine tango in the historic Palazzo dei Congressi of Salsomaggiore Terme
The Salsomaggiore Tango Festival brings the warmth and passion of Argentine tango to the heart of Emilia-Romagna, in the historic Palazzo dei Congressi in Salsomaggiore Terme (province of Parma). The event is organized by Modì A.S.D., the association founded by masters Marco Palladino and Lara Carminati, key figures in the tango scene in the Parma area. Over a spring weekend, the elegant Art Nouveau halls of the famous spa town are transformed into a grand ballroom where dancers from all over Italy and abroad gather.
The heart of the festival is the "all-inclusive" formula that combines hours of lessons and dancing evenings. The masterclasses take place in multiple simultaneous rooms and cover the fundamental themes of the dance: tango, vals, and milonga, from the embrace and musicality to connection and flexibility, up to more technical movements like colgadas, volcadas, ganchos, and circular turns. Each day concludes with a long milonga that continues until late at night, accompanied by performances by the master couples, music selected by DJs, and live singing moments.
The strength of the Salsomaggiore Tango Festival lies in its cast of international-caliber instructors, bringing together established Argentine and Italian masters from the tango scene. Among the featured performers in past editions are couples such as Sabrina Veliz and Alejandro Lencina, Sol Cerquides and Jonatan Aguero, Malvina Gili and Sebastián Zánchez, Patricia Hilliges and Matteo Panero, along with organizers Lara Carminati and Marco Palladino. The evenings are animated by DJs like Gibo and the voice of singer Federico Pierro.
Known throughout Emilia-Romagna for its thermal baths and early 20th-century Art Nouveau architecture, Salsomaggiore Terme offers the ideal setting for an elegant and refined event like the tango festival. The Municipality of Salsomaggiore, nestled in the hills of Parma, welcomes participants to a location that combines relaxation, typical gastronomy, and culture, making the stay a complete experience beyond just dancing.
The second edition of the festival, scheduled for April 4 and 5, 2026, confirmed the successful formula of its debut: tango, vals, and milonga lessons in four simultaneous rooms (time slots 3:00 PM-4:30 PM, 4:45 PM-6:15 PM, and 8:30 PM-10:00 PM) followed by long milonga evenings from 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM, with performances by the master couples.
