A hamlet festival in the Canavese

The Saint Thomas Festival takes place in the hamlet of San Tommaso, a small locality at an altitude of approximately 405 meters, which is part of the municipality of Prascorsano in the Val Gallenca, province of Turin. It is one of those village festivals that, year after year, keeps the traditions of the smaller Canavese hamlets alive: a simple and sincere occasion where the community gathers around the figure of the Apostle Thomas.

Saint Thomas, the Apostle

The festival is linked to the liturgical feast of Saint Thomas the Apostle, celebrated by the Church on July 3rd. Thomas is one of the most well-known figures of the Gospel, remembered for his need to see and touch before believing, which gave rise to the popular expression "doubting Thomas." In Prascorsano, his memory gives its name to a hamlet and the summer event that brings it to life.

Although it is a small-scale event, the festival preserves the profound value of Piedmontese patronal celebrations: the religious moment, the meeting between neighbors and families, and the spirit of sharing. Prascorsano and the Val Gallenca

Prascorsano is a village of just under seven hundred inhabitants nestled in the greenery of the Canavese, at the gateway to the Valli di Lanzo and the Gran Paradiso National Park. The municipal territory includes numerous hamlets scattered between 360 and 1199 meters above sea level, including San Tommaso. Visiting Prascorsano during one of its festivals means discovering an authentic Piedmont, far from mass tourism circuits.

According to the event calendar published by the Municipality of Prascorsano, the Saint Thomas Festival is scheduled for July 4, 2026, close to the Apostle's liturgical feast. The detailed program is generally released shortly before the event through municipal and parish channels.
