Correggio's great spring fair with flowers, flavours, and Reggio Emilia traditions
The Saint Joseph's Fair is the major spring event in Correggio, a town in the province of Reggio Emilia, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. Historically linked to Saint Joseph's Day (March 19th), the fair takes place in mid-March and for two days transforms the entire historic centre into a large open-air experience filled with stalls, flowers, scents, and traditions. Alongside the fair is the renowned 'Correggio in Bloom' market exhibition, dedicated to greenery, flowers, and gardening, which has been the true heart of the event for over thirty years.
Along Corso Mazzini, from Porta Reggio to Porta Modena, the horticultural market exhibition unfolds with plants, flowers, garden furniture, and equipment. Among the most popular offerings is the themed market stall Colours and Scents of Lavender, filling the air with the unmistakable aroma of this plant. It's the perfect opportunity to refresh your garden or balcony at the start of the warmer season, but also to stroll among the colours of spring.
The celebration isn't just about flowers. In Piazza Garibaldi, you'll find Italy's Flavours Square, featuring gastronomic specialties from across the peninsula, while along Corso Cavour, the market of creative artisans and volunteer associations parades. There's also an exhibition of vintage cars and motorcycles, the Italian basket weavers' exhibition Intreccio e natura (Weaving and Nature), and the large fair-market in Viale Cottafavi. For food lovers, the stand selling fried gnocco, a symbol of Emilian tradition, is a must-visit, along with the Garden of Delights offering food and drinks.
The Saint Joseph's Fair is also an opportunity to discover Correggio's cultural heritage: during the event, the Civic Tower opens its doors, offering views over the town centre, and the 'Il Correggio' Museum in Palazzo dei Principi hosts temporary exhibitions. Among the most curious traditions is La scusรจta, an ancient folk game involving eggs, which entertains both adults and children along Corso Mazzini. There's also music from the L. Asioli Band and performances at the prestigious Asioli Theatre.
Organized by the Pro Loco Correggio in collaboration with the Municipality of Correggio, the fair is a collective event involving associations, traders, and volunteers from the town. Entry to the event areas is free: just let yourself be guided through the streets of the centre to experience one of the most beautiful spring days in the Bassa Reggiana.
The 2026 edition of the Saint Joseph's Fair celebrated the 34th edition of 'Correggio in Bloom', with the flower and plant market exhibition stretching along Corso Mazzini, from Porta Reggio to Porta Modena. Alongside the greenery, visitors enjoyed themed markets, exhibitions, and many gastronomic offerings in the historic centre of Correggio (Reggio Emilia), during one of the busiest days of spring in the region.
Among the highlights and returning features of the edition: a new exhibition at the 'Il Correggio' Museum, an exhibition of vintage cars and motorcycles, the Italian basket weavers' exhibition, and performances at the Asioli Theatre. Entry to the fair areas was free.
