The patronal feast of Zimone, on the Serra d'Ivrea, in the heart of the Biella area
The Saint George Patronal Feast is the most important event in the calendar of Zimone, a small municipality in the Province of Biella, in Piedmont. Perched on the ridges of the Serra d'Ivrea, a short distance from Lake Viverone, the village dedicates a celebration to its patron saint that weaves together faith, tradition, and community life. The feast falls around April 23rd, the day the Church commemorates Saint George the Martyr.
The heart of the feast remains religious: the solemn mass in the parish church of Saint George and the traditional procession that winds through the village streets, accompanied by the participation of the locals. Surrounding the liturgical moment, the Pro Loco of Zimone enlivens the day with convivial and social events, making the patronal feast a meeting point for the entire community and for those who return to the village for this occasion.
Zimone is a small but charming village in the eastern Biella area, known for its natural resources and its connection to the Serra d'Ivrea, the great morainic hill overlooking Lake Viverone. Experiencing the patronal feast also means discovering this corner of Piedmont, made of vineyards, trails, and panoramas that stretch from the Alps to the plains.
The Pro Loco of Zimone, the local social promotion association, is the driving force of community life and organizes various events throughout the year, including:
The feast takes place on the days surrounding April 23rd. As it is a local event linked to patronal devotion, the detailed program is defined year by year and released by the Pro Loco and the parish in the days leading up to the event.
