About Saint George Festival

Every late April, Castello di Fiemme celebrates its patron saint, Saint George, with a three-day festival that weaves together devotion, music, and Alpine conviviality. In the heart of the Fiemme Valley, in Trentino, the Saint George Festival gathers the village around the singing of the Coro La Valle, dialect comedy, Holy Mass with the parade of the Banda Sociale di Molina, an Alpine lunch, and team games, all accompanied by grostoli and fortaie. A community celebration with a genuine flavor, deeply rooted in the identity of this village in the lower Fiemme Valley.

The patronal feast of Castello di Fiemme

The Saint George Festival is the patronal feast of the village of Castello di Fiemme, in the municipality of Castello-Molina di Fiemme, in the province of Trento and the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Nestled at an altitude of approximately 960 meters in the lower Fiemme Valley, the village gathers every year towards the end of April around the figure of its patron, Saint George, traditionally celebrated on April 23rd. The festival spans three days, blending religious observance with cultural and social moments, offering an authentic portrait of the Fiemme community.

Three days of music, theater, and tradition

The program kicks off on Friday with a performance by the Coro La Valle at the Multifunctional Center, an evening dedicated to mountain singing that tells the story of "the lands of Saint George": the castle, its farmsteads, and its people. Saturday is dedicated to theater, featuring a dialect comedy performed by the "4 Gati de Varena" company, an unmissable event that fills the village hall with laughter.

Sunday is the heart of the celebration: it begins with Holy Mass and a procession accompanied by the Banda Sociale di Molina di Fiemme, which winds through the village streets. This is followed by the most anticipated moment, the Alpine lunch in the former bocce area, open to everyone and served on a voluntary donation basis, often supporting local causes such as the kindergarten.

Community flavors and games

The festival is also an opportunity to rediscover the traditional flavors of the Fiemme Valley. There is no shortage of grostoli and fortaie, the typical fried pastries of the Trentino tradition, which are the stars of the afternoon snack. The afternoon continues with team games and entertainment for families, in a joyful atmosphere that involves both young and old.

  • Coro La Valle — evening of choral mountain singing
  • "4 Gati de Varena" Company — dialect comedy
  • Banda Sociale di Molina di Fiemme — procession and musical accompaniment
  • Alpine lunch with voluntary donations, grostoli, and fortaie
  • Team games and family entertainment

A festival that tells the story of Fiemme

More than just a date on the calendar, the Saint George Festival is a moment of collective identity for Castello di Fiemme. The bond with the patron saint, the participation of local choirs and bands, the solidarity of the community lunch, and the table of traditional sweets make this festival a genuine experience, allowing visitors to discover the most authentic soul of the lower Fiemme Valley, amidst the mountains of Trentino.
