A sailing season on the upper Lake Garda
On the upper Lake Garda, where the wind blows constantly between Monte Baldo and the Veronese shore, the Brenzone Nautical Club has been a benchmark for sailing for over half a century. Founded in 1965 and affiliated with the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), the club is based in Castelletto di Brenzone, in the province of Verona, and organizes a season of races that runs from May to October each year.
The program alternates zonal stages, international races, and promotional days. It ranges from the Luca Avesani Trophy and the Brenzone Micro Challenge at the start of the season, to the Paterazzo Trophy, the Nicolò Salvà Memorial, the Race of the Islands and Roses, up to the autumn international events such as the International Kielzugvogel Race and the International Star Race, with the class's Italian Cup.
The races of the Brenzone Nautical Club are not just about competition: they are also a way to experience the Veronese Garda in its most sporting and authentic dimension. The Vela Day (Sailing Day) opens its doors to those who want to try the thrill of sailing for the first time, on dinghies and keelboats, on the crystal-clear waters of the upper lake.
The 2026 season of the Brenzone Nautical Club offers a rich calendar of races on the waters of the upper Garda, from May to October. It opens on May 2-3 with the Luca Avesani Trophy (zonal stage for Asso 99, Protagonist 7.50, and Fun) and the Brenzone Micro Challenge (national race for the Micro Class). May continues with Aperivela Maggese (May 23) and the XV Paterazzo Trophy (May 24), while Vela Day on May 31-June 1 opens sailing to everyone with free trial outings. June features the Nicolò Salvà Memorial (June 20-21) and the Race of the Islands and Roses (June 21), followed by the Montees Cup night race on July 4. Autumn is dedicated to international events: the 56th International Kielzugvogel Race (October 2-4) and the International Star Race (October 9-11), with the 60th Friendship Trophy and the class's Italian Cup.
