The name, in the local dialect, celebrates the purpetta, or meatball: the absolute star of the festival, prepared following traditional home recipes passed down through generations. It is a simple, popular dish that tells the story of the humble, generous cuisine of rural Puglia, made with authentic ingredients and slow, careful preparation.

Piazzale Montegrappa, the heart of the festival

The festival takes place at Piazzale Montegrappa, on the hill of the same name overlooking the town, part of the Murgia Salentina ridge. It is a cool, shaded spot, perfect for summer evenings: for years, the Pro Loco of Tuglie has welcomed tourists and locals returning for their holidays, offering them the most authentic flavors of local tradition.
