The festival dedicated to IGP egg pasta in the village overlooking the Adriatic

The National Festival of Maccheroncini di Campofilone IGP is one of the most established and anticipated food and wine events in the Marche region. Established in 1964 by the Pro Loco of Campofilone (local tourism association), the event takes place every year in the first ten days of August, transforming the small village in the province of Fermo into a grand popular celebration dedicated to its signature product.
The absolute stars of the festival are Maccheroncini di Campofilone, incredibly thin strands of egg pasta made by hand according to a recipe passed down from mother to daughter. It is an ancient specialty: as early as the 15th century, maccheroncini were considered a delicacy and were mentioned in correspondence from the Abbey of Campofilone and in some documents from the Council of Trent. On November 13, 2013, they obtained European Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status, a historic achievement that protects their quality and authenticity. During the festival, the maccheroncini are served with the traditional Marche meat ragù.
For four days, the historic centre of Campofilone comes alive with food stalls, the evocative ritual of live pasta-making by the pasta makers, musical performances and evening entertainment, and artisan craft markets and exhibitions. The event attracts thousands of visitors each year, drawn by the quality of the product and the authentic atmosphere of the village.
Located on a hilltop along the Adriatic coast, between Fermo and San Benedetto del Tronto, the Municipality of Campofilone overlooks the lower Aso river valley, just over three kilometres from the sea. It is a village with ancient origins, marked by the presence of the Abbey of San Bartolomeo, documented since 1066. Visiting the festival means discovering an excellent product and one of the most picturesque corners of the Marche region at the same time.
The 2025 edition, the sixty-second, recorded a record number of visitors and was awarded the Sagra di Qualità mark by UNPLI (Italian National Union of Pro Loco), a recognition reserved for events that guarantee authenticity, promotion of typical products, and hospitality.
The 63rd edition of the National Festival of Maccheroncini di Campofilone IGP is expected in the historic centre of Campofilone (FM) from August 8 to 11, 2026, following the usual placement in the first ten days of the month. As tradition dictates, the event organised by the Pro Loco of Campofilone will feature food stalls serving maccheroncini IGP with ragù, live pasta-making demonstrations, musical performances, and artisan craft markets and exhibitions.
Currently, the dates are indicated in the festival calendars as 'to be confirmed', and the detailed programme with artists and times has not yet been published on the official channels. Updates will be released by the Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the event.
