Two evenings of food stalls, markets, workshops, and music in Piazza Eduardo De Filippo
Sagra in centro is an event that, for two consecutive evenings, transforms Piazza Eduardo De Filippo—located in the PIME area in the center of Trentola Ducenta, in the Province of Caserta—into a large open-air space dedicated to taste, social connection, and entertainment. The underlying concept is simple and quintessentially Campanian: bring together tables, street food, music, and families in an illuminated square, and let the evening take its course.
The formula combines gastronomic tradition, live music, and activities for all ages. Throughout the square, you will find food stalls, a market area, workshops, DJ sets, and musical performances, with the participation of various local associations. It is not a festival dedicated to a single local product, but a well-rounded town square celebration where food serves as the perfect excuse to bring the community together.
The heart of the event remains the table. The menu announced by the organizers features some of the most beloved specialties of Campanian tradition and street food:
It is a deliberately popular menu, designed to be enjoyed standing or at shared tables, without too much formality. After all, sausage with friarielli, fried graffe, and seafood cuoppo are the flavors through which Campania has always told the story of its town festivals, and here they all come together in one culinary journey.
Alongside the food, the program includes DJ sets and musical performances that accompany both evenings, as well as a market area with stalls and workshops aimed primarily at children. The square is meant to be explored on foot from one stall to the next, with the stage and console serving as the natural gathering point for the night. Local press has not released the names of the artists involved or specific performance times: the musical program is typically announced on the organizers' social media channels in the days immediately preceding the event.
The organizers describe Sagra in centro as an event born to promote the local area through food, sociality, and the culture of gathering, with the declared goal of involving all generations. It is a formula that works in Trentola Ducenta: in a town in the Agro Aversano where social life revolves heavily around public spaces, the choice of the main square is no coincidence, and the festival becomes an opportunity to meet up outdoors on an early summer evening.
Trentola Ducenta is a town of just under 21,000 inhabitants in the Province of Caserta, in Campania, in the heart of the Agro Aversano: a densely populated and cultivated plain, just a few kilometers from Aversa, about twenty kilometers from the provincial capital Caserta, and slightly further from Naples. It is a territory historically tied to agriculture and viticulture—the Asprinio d'Aversa, grown on tall trees, is the symbolic grape of this area—and today it is highly urbanized, where town festivals maintain an important role in the collective calendar.
Those arriving from out of town for the festival will find themselves a short distance from some of the most visited destinations in northern Campania: the Royal Palace of Caserta, the historic center of Aversa with its Norman churches, and, towards the coast, the Domitian coastline. An evening in the square in Trentola Ducenta can therefore easily be incorporated into a broader weekend trip.
The edition documented by the local press was held on Saturday, June 6th, and Sunday, June 7th, with evening appointments in Piazza Eduardo De Filippo. As this is a recent event organized by the local community, it is advisable to check dates, times, and the program year by year on the channels of the Municipality of Trentola Ducenta and the participating associations.
On the evenings of Saturday, June 6th, and Sunday, June 7th, 2026, Piazza Eduardo De Filippo—located in the PIME area in the center of Trentola Ducenta—transformed into a large space dedicated to taste, conviviality, and entertainment. Two open-air evenings featuring food stalls, a market, workshops, DJ sets, and musical performances, designed to welcome families, groups of friends, and food lovers.
The gastronomic offerings brought together some of the most beloved specialties of Campanian tradition and street food: sausage and eggplant sandwiches, pasta alla siciliana, pasta e fagioli, pizza, fried seafood cones, hot dogs, and stuffed pizza with sausage and friarielli. To end the evening, cornetti, graffe, and gelato were served.
Various local associations took part in the event, with the goal declared by the organizers of promoting the Municipality of Trentola Ducenta, in the Province of Caserta, through food, sociality, and the culture of gathering. The exact opening times for the stalls and the names of the artists on stage were not released by the local press.
Piazza Eduardo De Filippo, near the PIME area, in the center of Trentola Ducenta (CE), postal code 81038. The area is pedestrianized for the duration of the event and hosts food stalls, markets, and a music space.
By car: From Naples, take the Asse Mediano towards Aversa-Villa Literno, exiting at Trentola-Ducenta; from the A1 motorway, exit at Caserta Sud and continue on the provincial roads towards Aversa. Parking should be sought in the streets surrounding the center, which fill up quickly on festival evenings.
By train: The nearest station is Aversa, a few kilometers away, served by regional connections between Naples and Rome and the metropolitan lines of the Aversa area. From the station, continue by bus or taxi.
Local sources do not report entrance fees: as with most town festivals, access to the area is free, and you only pay for what you consume at the stalls. Prices for individual dishes have not been made public.
The event is held in the evening and outdoors: it is best to arrive early to find parking and expect some waiting time at the stalls during peak hours when the square is most crowded. It is a family-friendly event with workshops designed for children.
For updates on dates, times, and the musical program, it is best to follow the channels of the Municipality of Trentola Ducenta (comune.trentoladucenta.ce.it) and the social media pages of the local associations, which publish the event poster in the days leading up to the event.
