The Sagra di San Luigi is the historic parish festival of the capital of Sona, in the province of Verona, a tradition passed down for more than two hundred years. It is dedicated to Saint Louis Gonzaga, patron saint of youth, and is rooted in the history of the parish and the community.
Themed evenings of food and music
For about six evenings in September, the center of Sona transforms into a large festival area, with food stalls offering complete menus and a packed entertainment program. The evenings are often themed — from Tyrolean cuisine to Latin American dancing, from afro nights to musical tributes — with shows, entertainment for children, cultural events, and theater in the Villa Romani park.
The community festival
The festival culminates with a solemn mass and a grand fireworks display that concludes the celebrations. Organized by the parish community of Sona with the support of Pro Loco Sona (local tourism association) and numerous volunteers and associations, the Sagra di San Luigi is an identity event for the capital, where the religious and popular dimensions merge into a celebration that spans generations.
