In Santa Lucia ai Monti, a hamlet of Valeggio sul Mincio in the province of Verona, September means the Sagra del Torbolin. Torbolìn is young wine, still cloudy because it's in full fermentation: a farmer's product tied to the grape harvest that gives its name to one of the most characteristic festivals in the morainic hills of the Mincio river.
Tortellini, Grilled Chicken, and Tradition
Throughout the festival, food stalls offer the famous Valeggio tortellini, the grilled chicken from Santa Lucia ai Monti, and many other local specialities, also served in covered areas. Evenings are enlivened by orchestras, music, and dancing, while sports and costumed re-enactments complete a programme that blends taste, tradition, and socialising.
Traditional Grape Treading
The most evocative moment is the costumed re-enactment of grape treading, curated by the Gruppo Folcloristico I Campagnoli, which brings to life the gestures of the grape harvest of yesteryear. The festival is organised by the Circolo NOI Santa Lucia ai Monti with the patronage of the Municipality of Valeggio sul Mincio, and is a benchmark for Veronese autumn food and wine events.
Sagra del Torbolin — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Sagra del Torbolin takes place from 19 to 22 September in Santa Lucia ai Monti, a hamlet of Valeggio sul Mincio. The event, organised by the Circolo NOI with the patronage of the Municipality, combines gastronomy, music, sports, and rural tradition.
The stars are the Valeggio tortellini and the grilled chicken from Santa Lucia ai Monti, accompanied by torbolìn, the young wine that gives the festival its name. Among the events are sports with the Renato Meneghelli Memorial and the grape treading re-enactment by the Gruppo Folcloristico I Campagnoli.

- 9:30 AM — Morning opening of the stalls
- 5:30 PM — Costumed re-enactment of traditional grape treading, by the Gruppo Folcloristico I Campagnoli
