The Giara stream trout, since 1968, in the Arroscia Valley
In Rezzo, a village in the upper Arroscia Valley in the province of Imperia, the Sagra della Trota (Trout Festival) is a tradition that has been going on since 1968, the year of its first edition. It is the valley's longest-running event, a symbol of the bond between the community and the clear waters of the Giara stream.
Local fishermen celebrate the Giara trout, served fresh at Giardini La Pagoda along with Ligurian cuisine dishes offered à la carte and local wines. The festival, organised by the Pro Loco of Rezzo, combines the promotion of a freshwater product with the conviviality of a village festival.
The event is listed among the Authentic Ligurian Events, the brand of the Liguria Region that promotes festivals with a solid historical foundation and a strong link to local traditions. An unmissable stop for those who want to discover the authenticity of the Imperia hinterland in the summer.
For 2026, the Sagra della Trota in Rezzo reaches its 54th edition, scheduled for July 18 and included in the regional calendar of Authentic Ligurian Events. At Giardini La Pagoda, local fishermen and the Pro Loco will offer fresh Giara stream trout with an à la carte menu of Ligurian dishes and local wines. Details on timings will be communicated by the Pro Loco closer to the event.
By car: from the Imperia coast, take the SS28 up the Arroscia Valley, then turn off for Rezzo. By train: Imperia station, then bus towards the hinterland.
Municipality of Rezzo, tel. +39 0183 34015. À la carte menu at Giardini La Pagoda.
