The star dish of Val Nervia in the medieval alleyways
In Rocchetta Nervina, a village in the hinterland of the Imperia province, the Sagra della Capra e Fagioli celebrates one of the most characteristic specialties of the Val Nervia. The slow-cooked stewed goat is served with Pigna beans, a Slow Food presidium cultivated in the nearby valleys, in a dish that tells the story of the simple yet flavorful cuisine of these lands.
In addition to the main dish, the festival showcases local excellences: the DOC Rossese di Dolceacqua wine, extra virgin Taggiasca olive oil, and toasted bread crostini. The gastronomic evening is enlivened by live music, creating a convivial atmosphere that attracts locals and visitors from all over the valley.
The festival takes place in the heart of Rocchetta Nervina, a village with characteristic medieval alleyways and stone bridges, considered one of the most beautiful in the Ligurian western hinterland. The sagra is the ideal opportunity to discover this authentic corner of Val Nervia, far from coastal tourism.
For 2026, the Sagra della Capra e Fagioli is planned for July 25 (date to be confirmed with organizers). The evening features stewed goat with Pigna beans, a Slow Food presidium, accompanied by Rossese di Dolceacqua wine, Taggiasca oil, and crostini, with live music in the village's alleyways. The detailed program will be announced by the Municipality closer to the event.
