The kingdom of risotto
The Sagra del Risotto del Quartiere Pilastro is the food festival that enlivens this district of Este, in the province of Padua, every September. Born on the occasion of the Feast of the Blessed Virgin of the Pillar (Blessed Virgin Mary of Sorrows), the festival dedicates its stand to rice, the star dish of Venetian tradition.
Risottos
In collaboration with expert chefs from Isola della Scala, in the province of Verona, the Venetian capital of rice, the stand offers numerous variations: risotto all'isolana, guanciale-gorgonzola-walnut risotto, radicchio-Monte Veronese risotto, and other specialties that change from year to year.
Not just food
Alongside the food, the festival offers evenings of music and dancing, a painting exhibition, a lottery, and entertainment for adults and children. Organised by the Parish of Pilastro, it is a neighbourhood festival that combines devotion, culinary tradition, and socialising.
Sagra del Risotto del Pilastro — edition 2026
For 2026 too, the return of the Sagra del Risotto del Pilastro is expected, one of the most delicious neighbourhood festivals in Este. The event, which recurs annually around the Feast of the Blessed Virgin of the Pillar, confirms the stand dedicated to risottos and the rich entertainment programme. The exact dates will be announced by the Parish of Pilastro.

Based on recent editions, the festival includes a food stand with risottos in multiple variations (all'isolana, guanciale-gorgonzola-walnut, radicchio-Monte Veronese) prepared in collaboration with chefs from Isola della Scala, evenings of music and dancing, a painting exhibition, and a lottery, on the occasion of the Feast of the Blessed Virgin of the Pillar.
