About Sagra di San Bortolo

At the end of August, Agugliaro comes alive with the Sagra di San Bortolo, the festival of Saint Bartholomew that has drawn people from all over the Basso Vicentino for generations. Several days of music, entertainment, and fun around the large gastronomic stand of the Pro Loco, where Vicentine tradition is savoured with gnocchi, bigoli, grilled meats, fried fish, and the unmissable baccalà alla vicentina. A genuine village festival, in the heart of the province of Vicenza.

The Festival of Saint Bartholomew

The Sagra di San Bortolo is the end-of-summer festival in Agugliaro, a municipality in the Basso Vicentino area of the province of Vicenza. The name refers to Saint Bartholomew ("San Bortolo" in the Venetian dialect), celebrated on August 24th, around whom a village festival is centered, lasting for several days around the last week of August.

Vicentine Gastronomy Takes Centre Stage

The heart of the festival is the large gastronomic stand managed by the Pro Loco of Agugliaro, where you can taste traditional dishes: gnocchi, bigoli, grilled meats, fried fish, and the famous baccalà alla vicentina, one of the symbols of the local cuisine. The evening setting offers live music, dancing, and entertainment for all ages.

A Community Tradition

The Sagra di San Bortolo is an event deeply rooted in the life of the village, the result of the work of Pro Loco volunteers. For Agugliaro, it represents the quintessential summer celebration, an occasion for residents and former villagers to gather and a showcase for the gastronomic traditions of the Vicenza region.
