The building trade fair of Southern Italy
The SAEM – Building and Innovation Exhibition is the premier trade event dedicated to the construction world in Southern Italy and one of the leading national sector exhibitions, following the major fairs in Milan and Bologna. It takes place at SiciliaFiera, the exhibition center in Misterbianco, just outside Catania, Sicily. The event showcases the entire construction supply chain: from materials to design, and from plant systems to heavy earth-moving machinery.
Six exhibition areas
The exhibition is spread across multiple pavilions and a vast outdoor area dedicated to large-scale equipment. The sectors represented cover the entire construction value chain:
- Construction and materials, with a focus on green building and sustainable products
- Urban redevelopment and restoration of built heritage
- Plant engineering and latest-generation systems
- Design and digitalization, featuring tools for projects and the 4.0 construction site
- Earth-moving machinery, displayed in the outdoor area
- Services and media for the sector
Conferences, seminars, and training
Alongside the stands, SAEM offers a packed program of conferences, meetings, and workshops that allow professionals to stay updated and, in many cases, earn professional training credits. The sessions address current topics such as energy efficiency, health and safety at work, new industry regulations, and the sustainability of the Sicilian stone supply chain, with a particular emphasis on Etna lava stone.
A growing event
Founded to give a voice to Sicilian construction companies, SAEM has grown over the years into a meeting point that attracts exhibitors from all over Italy and abroad. Each edition records an increase in exhibition space, exhibitors, and visitors, confirming the role of Sicily and the Municipality of Misterbianco as a crossroads for the construction industry in Southern Italy. The audience consists of professionals, operators, and companies in the sector, as well as private individuals interested in renovations, energy efficiency, and new home technologies.
SAEM — edition 2026
SAEM 2026: the 29th edition
From May 15 to 17, 2026, the SiciliaFiera pavilions in Misterbianco hosted the 29th edition of SAEM, with free admission and continuous opening hours from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The edition featured over 200 exhibitors and a 30% increase in national companies compared to the past, distributed between pavilions C1 and C2 and the outdoor area reserved for earth-moving machinery.
Green building and digital
Key themes included green building, sustainable materials, digital design, latest-generation plant engineering, and urban redevelopment. The program included technical conferences and seminars, such as the meeting on "Health and Safety at Work" organized by CNA Catania, AIAS, and ASP Catania, and a conference dedicated to the development and sustainability of the Sicilian stone supply chain, organized by the Consorzio Pietra Lavica.
A public success
The edition closed with over 15,000 visitors and a 47% growth compared to the previous edition. The audience consisted of 47% operators and companies in the sector, 32% professionals, and 21% private individuals, confirming SAEM's role as a reference point for construction in Southern Italy.

- Friday, May 15 – Opening at 10:00 AM; conference "The Red Thread – from zero-energy buildings to zero-problem buildings" on energy efficiency.
- Saturday, May 16 (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM) – Seminar "Health and Safety at Work. Regulatory News and Training Challenges" (CNA Catania, AIAS, ASP Catania).
- Saturday, May 16 (afternoon) – Conference "Development and sustainability of the Sicilian stone production chain" by the Consorzio Pietra Lavica.
- Sunday, May 17 – Exhibition open to the public, outdoor earth-moving machinery area.

How to get there
SiciliaFiera is located at Via Bologna 76 in Misterbianco (CT). It is easily accessible by car from the Catania ring road (Misterbianco exit) and is just a few minutes from Catania-Fontanarossa Airport. Ample parking is available.
Opening hours and admission
The fair is open daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Admission is free upon online ticket registration (Eventbrite / official website).
