Three days of faith, tradition, and live music in Piazza Sacro Cuore
The Sacro Cuore Festival is one of the most cherished traditions in Roseto degli Abruzzi, a town on the Teramo coast in the province of Teramo, Abruzzo. Linked to the parish and the neighborhood that bear the name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the festival has long blended religious devotion with popular conviviality, becoming a true symbol of identity for residents and a gathering place for the entire community.
The spiritual heart of the event is the evening Holy Mass, followed by a procession that winds through the town streets. The parade is led by the historic "V. e B. Celli" Band of Casoli di Atri, which accompanies the faithful and, upon returning to Piazza Sacro Cuore, performs a band concert much appreciated by the public. It is a moment where the religious and festive dimensions merge, amidst popular melodies and collective participation.
With the opening of the food stalls, the square comes alive every evening with local flavors and a festive atmosphere. The nights are energized by live concerts, often featuring beloved tribute and cover bands from the Italian music scene, attracting families, young people, and visitors alike. Pop music and the greatest hits of Italian song provide the soundtrack to a festival that perfectly balances tradition and entertainment.
The grand finale is marked on the closing night by the lottery draw, an unmissable and highly anticipated moment that seals the festivities with greetings and thanks. It is the way the Sacro Cuore Festival Committee concludes an event built through the dedication of neighborhood volunteers.
Hosted in the Municipality of Roseto degli Abruzzi with the patronage of the local administration, the Sacro Cuore Festival represents an important piece of the Adriatic town's rich summer calendar. For those visiting the Teramo coast in June, it is the ideal opportunity to experience an authentic festival, deeply rooted in local tradition and the sense of belonging of an entire neighborhood.
The 2026 Sacro Cuore Festival in Roseto degli Abruzzi was held from June 12 to 14 in Piazza Sacro Cuore. The opening Friday featured the 7 PM Holy Mass followed by the procession through the town streets, accompanied by the "V. e B. Celli" Band of Casoli di Atri, with a band concert in the square upon their return and the opening of the food stalls. The following evenings were animated by concerts: PRK - Puntoradiokom, a Vasco Rossi tribute band, and Jolly Blu, an 883 and Max Pezzali cover band. On Sunday, after the evening Mass, the festival closed with the lottery draw and final farewells.
Roseto degli Abruzzi is served by the railway station on the Bologna-Bari Adriatic line and by the Roseto degli Abruzzi exit of the A14 motorway. Piazza Sacro Cuore is located in the neighborhood of the same name and is within walking distance of the town center.
Participation in religious celebrations, concerts in the square, and events is free; food stalls charge according to their individual price lists.
As this is a summer festival on the coast, we recommend combining your visit with a day at the beach and arriving early on concert nights, when the square gets crowded.
