The patronal feast of Terzolas, in Val di Sole, held every second Sunday of July
Every second Sunday of July, the small municipality of Terzolas, nestled on a wide glacial terrace in the lower Val di Sole, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), celebrates its patronal feast dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In 2026, the event falls on Sunday, July 12. It is the most anticipated religious and community event of the year, a moment when the entire village unites around its tradition of faith.
The feast is closely linked to the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is part of the Capuchin Convent in Terzolas. The convent was rebuilt between 1894 and 1896 at the entrance to the Val di Rabbi, replacing the ancient convent of Malè, which was destroyed by a major fire in 1892. The church was completed in the spring of 1896 and consecrated on August 8 of the same year by Bishop Eugenio Carlo Valussi. Since then, the complex has been a spiritual landmark for the entire valley, serving today as a holiday house and a center for retreats and pastoral activities by the Capuchin friars.
The patronal day revolves around liturgical celebrations: the solemn Holy Mass and moments of prayer dedicated to the Sacred Heart, the core of the Franciscan spirituality that inspires the community. Surrounding the religious dimension are the convivial moments typical of Trentino village festivals, providing an opportunity for the inhabitants of Terzolas and neighboring villages in Val di Sole to gather.
Terzolas is an important agricultural center, famous for its apple production linked to the Melinda Consortium and its local dairy tradition. Surrounded by apple orchards and mountains, at the foot of Cima Lac, the village is one of the gateways to the Sole, Pejo, and Rabbi valleys. The Sacred Heart Feast is the ideal opportunity to discover this authentic corner of Trentino, where faith merges with the alpine landscape and the hospitality of a community deeply connected to its roots.
The 2026 edition of the Sacred Heart of Jesus patronal feast in Terzolas took place on Sunday, July 12, 2026, following the custom that sets the event on the second Sunday of July. The heart of the day was the liturgical celebration at the Sacred Heart church, inside the Capuchin Convent, with a solemn Holy Mass dedicated to the patron saint. Surrounding the religious dimension, the Terzolas community gathered to experience this tradition that unites the small village of the lower Val di Sole.
Terzolas is located in the lower Val di Sole, in the province of Trento. By car, it can be reached via the SS42 Tonale and Mendola road, taking the exit for Val di Sole; the village is just a few kilometers from Malé. By train, you can use the Trento-Malé-Mezzana line, getting off at Malé, followed by a short transfer.
The patronal feast is free to attend. The celebrations take place at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, at the Capuchin Convent (Via Cappuccini).
Val di Sole offers cycle paths along the Noce stream, hiking trails, and proximity to the ski resorts of Folgarida-Marilleva, Madonna di Campiglio, Peio, and Passo Tonale.
