About S'Move

Every year, between December and Epiphany, the ancient fishing port of Pozzuoli becomes the beating heart of the Phlegraean festivities. The S'Move Festival brings international DJs, dance performances, live painting, and light installations to the Darsena, with music broadcast throughout the historic center's alleys. Born from the collaboration between the Darsena-Pozzuoli merchants' committee and the Municipality, the free-entry event transforms bradyseism—the ground movement that gives the festival its name—into a collective story of resilience and rebirth.

A festival born from the movement of the earth

The name says it all: S'Move plays with the English verb to move and the phenomenon that has defined life in Pozzuoli for years, bradyseism, the slow rising and falling of the Phlegraean soil. Instead of suffering it, the city has turned it into a symbol: the movement becomes music, dance, and celebration. The festival is organized by the Darsena-Pozzuoli committee, which brings together the bars and businesses of the ancient port, with the support of the municipal administration, and reached its fourth edition with the 2025-2026 season.

The Darsena, a stage on the sea

The heart of the festival is the Darsena of Pozzuoli, the historic fishing harbor nestled at the foot of the Rione Terra, in the Municipality of Pozzuoli, in the province of Naples, Campania. A stage overlooking the water is set up here: the moored boats, the colorful facades of the houses, and the profile of the gulf serve as a natural backdrop for the sunset DJ sets. Around it, the alleys of the historic center and Piazza della Repubblica complete the festival itinerary, among shops, fish markets, and trattorias open until late.

A program between club culture and art

The artistic direction focuses on quality electronic music—house, techno, Mediterranean sounds—with internationally renowned guests alongside local DJs and labels, starting with the Phlegraean crew Adunanza, appreciated throughout Europe. In recent editions, names such as Riva Starr, Anfisa Letyago, Anané and Louie Vega, Tedd Patterson, Claudio Cecchetto, Kirollus, and Tonno Disko have taken turns at the console.

However, music is never alone: every event is accompanied by artistic performances that tell a phase of the city's symbolic journey. Aerial dance, choreography, live painting, video projections, and installations compose a visual narrative that over the years has featured the Moon, flowers, and the roots of the Rione Terra as protagonists.

When the music leaves the Darsena

One of the most successful innovations is the public address system: the sound from the stage is broadcast via loudspeakers throughout the historic center, connecting the Darsena to the businesses in Piazza della Repubblica and the alleys. Those who cannot get close to the stage can thus continue to experience the same atmosphere in front of a drink or a fish dish, and the entire seaside village becomes a single party space.

A public-private partnership model

The S'Move Festival is largely funded by the merchants of the Darsena, with the logistical and organizational support of the Municipality: a model of collaboration between the public and private sectors proudly claimed by the promoters, who speak of an inclusive and open festival, capable of going beyond political affiliations. The stated goal is twofold: to provide a signal of confidence after the crises linked to bradyseism and to bring visitors back to the historic center during the very days when the city would risk emptying out.

What to see in Pozzuoli during the festival

  • Rione Terra: the Roman acropolis and the underground archaeological route that dominates the gulf.
  • Temple of Serapis (Macellum): the great Roman-era market, a historical thermometer of bradyseism, which in some editions has hosted festival installations.
  • Flavian Amphitheater: the third-largest amphitheater in Italy, with some of the best-preserved underground areas in the world.
  • Solfatara and Lake Averno: the volcanic landscapes that make the Phlegraean Fields a unique place in Campania.

Between one DJ set and another, the festival is therefore also an excellent opportunity to discover one of the most extraordinary archaeological areas in the Mediterranean, just a few minutes by subway from Naples.

S'Move — edition 2026

The fourth edition of the S'Move Festival marked the festivities in Pozzuoli with four events at the Darsena, from December 6, 2025, to January 5, 2026, structured around four keywords: birth, resistance, care, and blooming. International DJs, aerial dance, live painting, and music broadcast throughout the historic center, for an investment of approximately 140,000 euros supported by the Darsena merchants and the Municipality. Free entry, with shuttles and parking provided by the administration.

Four stages, one single story

The 2025-2026 edition of the S'Move Festival was built as a narrative path in four phases, each dedicated to a moment of Pozzuoli's rebirth: birth on December 6, resistance on Christmas Eve, care on New Year's Eve, and blooming on the eve of Epiphany. Each evening corresponded to an artistic performance designed to illustrate that passage, with videos, choreography, and installations signed by the collective that accompanies the festival.

A change of scale

The first event exceeded ten thousand attendees, confirming the Darsena as the new center of gravity for Phlegraean festivities. The big news of the year was the public address system: for the first time, the music from the stage was broadcast by a loudspeaker system throughout the historic center, connecting the port area to Piazza della Repubblica and the alleys, so as to involve even the venues furthest from the stage.

An unexpected event and a community

The Christmas Eve event was canceled due to the weather alert issued for the Campanian coastal strip: the activities of the Darsena and the historic center remained open, however, each with its own music. The organizers, gathered in the Darsena-Pozzuoli committee, claimed the value of the project as an inclusive model of collaboration between the public and private sectors, capable of restoring confidence to a city that lives with bradyseism.
