There is a place, in the eastern hills of Friuli, where history and nature merge in an extraordinary way: the Rosazzo Abbey, a thousand-year-old monastic complex that dominates the landscape of the municipality of Manzano, in the province of Udine. It is here that every spring, on the second weekend of May, Rosazzo da Rosa comes to life, a horticultural market exhibition that in 2026 will reach its twenty-first edition.

A market exhibition for green lovers

For two days, the cloisters and spaces of the abbey host artisans and nursery owners from Friuli Venezia Giulia, who exhibit and sell high-quality roses, flowers, and ornamental plants. It is the ideal opportunity for enthusiasts and the curious to discover new varieties, receive advice from experts, and enrich their gardens. The event's name itself plays on the place name and the queen of flowers: in Rosazzo, the rose is at home.

Guided tours and the abbey's rose garden

In addition to the horticultural aspect, Rosazzo da Rosa is an invitation to rediscover the beauty of the abbey itself. Guided tours of the abbey church are scheduled, with explanations of its long history, and for the occasion, the rose garden can also be visited, accompanied by guides who talk about the different varieties of roses grown. A journey that intertwines botany, art, and spirituality in one of the most evocative places in the region.

A spring event

Supported by the collaboration between local entities, the event is now a regular fixture on the spring calendar of eastern Friuli, capable of attracting visitors from all over the region and beyond. Free entry with a donation supports the enhancement of the abbey, a jewel of the historical-artistic heritage of Manzano and the Province of Udine.
