About Romans d'Isonzo Carnival

The Romans d'Isonzo Carnival Parade (GO) is one of the longest-running and most anticipated carnival events in the Isontino area. Allegorical floats, masked groups, and thousands of participants bring the village streets to life in a colourful procession organized by the Pro Loco, reaching its 60th edition in 2026.

Sixty Years of Carnival in Romans

In Romans d'Isonzo, in the province of Gorizia, Carnival is a tradition that has been renewed for over half a century. The Carnival Parade reaches its 60th edition in 2026, confirming itself as one of the most important and well-attended masked processions in the entire Isontino region.

Every year the village transforms into an open-air stage: imposing allegorical floats, built in the preceding months by local groups, parade accompanied by dozens of costumed participants, in an explosion of colours, music, and creativity.

Allegorical Floats and Masked Groups

The heart of the festival are the allegorical floats created by local groups, capable of transforming cinematic, musical, and current events themes into spectacular sets. In past editions, floats dedicated to great themes such as "The Lion King" by Gruppo Valdemarin and "Disco Inferno" by Amici del Quaiat have paraded, with hundreds of participants of all ages, from children to the elderly.

Alongside the floats, masked groups on foot, bands, and masks parade, in a procession that draws a large crowd along the village streets.

A Community-Organized Festival

The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Romans d'Isonzo with the patronage of the Municipality of Romans d'Isonzo and the support of the Regional Committee of FVG of UNPLI and the Isontino Giuliano Consortium of Pro Loco. A collective effort that involves the entire community and makes the Romans parade a benchmark event for the carnival of eastern Friuli.
