The independent music festival in the heart of the Arezzo Valdarno
RockImPenna is a festival that transforms the small village of Penna, in the municipality of Terranuova Bracciolini, into an open-air stage for independent music every spring. Located in the heart of the Arezzo Valdarno, in the province of Arezzo, Tuscany, the event attracts rock and indie enthusiasts from across the region with a program that bridges the gap between well-known national acts and emerging talent.
The festival began in 2017 as a contest for local emerging bands and has steadily expanded its scope year after year to become a full-fledged festival. Over time, RockImPenna has built a strong identity, alternating established names from the Italian music scene with young local artists, all while maintaining its deep connection to the Penna community. Past editions have featured acts such as Meganoidi, Punkreas, and Casa del Vento.
The 2026 edition took place on Thursday, April 30th, in Piazza Don Felice, starting at 9:30 PM. The theme chosen for this year was "Limoni" (Lemons), an evocative image that recalls the atmosphere of summer nights and the freshness of live music, while also suggesting a more direct and conscious approach to reality, in dialogue with the great tradition of Italian singer-songwriters.
The star of the evening was Giancane, one of the most recognizable voices in the national indie scene, also known to the general public for his film soundtracks and hits like "Ipocondria". The program was rounded out by Ico, the Casi Umani with their surreal and unpredictable style, and VenereGommosa, who brought an engaging punk-pop attitude to the stage.
More than just a concert, RockImPenna is a gathering that symbolically opens the Valdarno summer season. The intimate setting of the square, the focus on new musical proposals, and the convivial atmosphere make it a highly anticipated event that provides a platform for local artists while bringing major names in Italian independent music to Penna.
