Rio Bianco Choir Concert of Panchià

A choral concert in the heart of the Fiemme Valley

The Rio Bianco Choir Concert of Panchià is one of the most anticipated summer events in the small village of Panchià, located in the Fiemme Valley in the Autonomous Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Every summer, typically on July evenings, the picturesque Piazza Chiesa transforms into an open-air theater where folk and mountain songs of the Alpine tradition resonate. In case of bad weather, the concert moves to the Panchià theater.

The Rio Bianco Choir

Founded in 1995, the Rio Bianco Choir is unique in the valley's choral scene: it is the only choir in the Fiemme Valley to include female voices, making it a true mixed-voice choir (sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses). The group, consisting of about thirty members, focuses on the folk repertoire, performing and arranging songs from the Trentino, Italian, and international traditions. Over the years, the choir has taken its voice well beyond the valley's borders, with tours in Bavaria and even a performance during a papal audience in Rome.

Evenings with guest choirs

The summer concert in Panchià is almost always a shared evening: the Rio Bianco Choir is joined by guest groups invited for the occasion, building a program of Alpine songs, traditional pieces, and arrangements for mixed choir. It is a way to foster dialogue between the voices of different Dolomite valleys and to renew, year after year, the deep bond between the community and its musical heritage.

Attending the concert means experiencing an authentic summer evening in a mountain village: the intimate square in front of the church, the fresh Dolomite air, and an audience sitting in silence before breaking into warm applause.
