Waiting for Christmas is the event with which the Pro Loco Canal San Bovo - Gobbera opens the festive season in the Vanoi Valley, in the green heart of Trentino. The appointment traditionally falls on December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, when the village gathers around the Area Feste to welcome the arrival of Christmas together in a climate of joy and sharing.

A festive afternoon for the whole community

As evening falls, the Area Feste in Canal San Bovo comes alive with lights, scents, and music. The initiative is designed especially for families and children, who can have fun with face painting while adults warm up with seasonal specialties. It is a simple yet heartfelt moment that reflects the community spirit of the Trentino Pro Loco associations, capable of transforming a mountain square into the meeting point for an entire village.

Flavors and atmospheres of the alpine winter

The core of the event is conviviality over hot drinks and Christmas treats. Highlights include:

• Hot chocolate and hot tea for young and old;
• Mulled wine, the classic spiced wine of the mountain winter;
• Marshmallows to enjoy with friends;
• Music to accompany the evening;
• Face painting dedicated to children.

In the heart of the Vanoi Valley

Canal San Bovo is the administrative center of the Vanoi Valley, one of the most authentic and secluded valleys in Trentino, surrounded by the Lagorai chain and the Cima d'Asta massif. Here, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige Region), winter is made of snow-covered woods, village traditions, and events that mark the holiday season. Waiting for Christmas is one of these: a small community event that, every year, rekindles the Christmas magic among the mountains of the Vanoi.

The initiative is part of the calendar of winter events promoted by the Pro Loco Canal San Bovo - Gobbera in collaboration with the Vanoi Valley Tourist Consortium.
