Two days of pure ski mountaineering on the Monti della Luna in Cesana Torinese
On the snow-covered slopes of the Monti della Luna, in the Cesana Torinese area (Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont), the Ravanage Backcountry Festival celebrates ski mountaineering in its purest form: off-piste exploration, skinning up, and high-altitude camaraderie. The headquarters is Capanna Mautino, a mountain hut overlooking Lago Nero in the village of Bousson, which serves as the starting and finishing point for every adventure.
The beauty of Ravanage is its inclusivity: "At Ravanage, we welcome everyone, from beginners to ski mountaineering fanatics." Those taking their first steps can choose the Easy Skialp Tour with ski instructors, while more experienced skiers can tackle technical routes toward Cima Fournier or into Val Thuras, accompanied by mountain guides. For those without equipment, discounted rentals are available for festival participants.
Alongside the excursions, the program includes a safety camp dedicated to avalanche safety with mountain guides, Alpine Rescue demonstrations, gear workshops (with partners like Ortovox and Skinbelts), freeski jump tests, games, and a treasure hunt in the snow. In the evening, Capanna Mautino hosts an aperitif, a mountain hut dinner, and a DJ set under the stars.
The event is organized by the Chaberton Outdoor Activities APS association, based in Claviere, with logistical support from Capanna Mautino. The meeting point is at Via San Isidoro 90 in Bousson, a hamlet of Cesana Torinese. Festival partners include Ferrino, Ortovox, Skinbelts, POW, Skialper, BrewDog, and Couloir Shop.
The 2026 edition of the Ravanage Backcountry Festival brought two days of life to Capanna Mautino and the slopes of the Monti della Luna, confirming a formula that centers on snow adventure and high-altitude camaraderie. Between guided excursions toward Cima Fournier and into Val Thuras, avalanche safety camps, and an evening DJ set at the hut, the festival brought together enthusiasts of all levels.
Based at Capanna Mautino, in the Lago Nero area (Monti della Luna), above Bousson, a hamlet of Cesana Torinese (TO). Meeting point: Via San Isidoro 90, Bousson.
