About Raner Carnival

The Raner Carnival is the most cherished festive event in Feletto, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Turin, nestled in the heart of the Canavese area. Organized by the Pro Loco Feletto nel Cuore association in collaboration with the municipality, it centers around the Raner—the carnival's sovereign figures—the symbolic handing over of the town keys, the masked parade of the four districts, and the burning of the Frog. A popular tradition that brings together families, schools, and local associations from across the town.

The Raner Carnival: The Soul of Feletto

In the heart of the Canavese, just a few kilometers from Turin, the small town of Feletto celebrates its most anticipated event every year: the Raner Carnival. It is an authentic local festival where traditions are passed down through generations and the entire community—from schools and local associations to the Pro Loco—gathers in the square for a few days of collective joy.

The name of the event refers to the Raner, the sovereign masks of the Feletto Carnival, who receive the symbolic keys of the town from the mayor each year while appearing on the balcony of the town hall in Piazza Martiri della Libertà. From that moment on, the festivities are officially open, and the village transforms into an open-air stage.

The Four Districts and Traditions

The heart of the festival is the grand masked parade, enlivened by representatives of Feletto's four historic districts—fumè, singher, camison, and pitociu—who compete for the spotlight with costumes, walking groups, and plenty of festive spirit. The day concludes with two highly anticipated moments: the confetti battle and the burning of the Frog, the final symbolic ritual that bids farewell to the Carnival.

The event is soundtracked by the live music of the Filarmonica Felettese, which accompanies the processions and presentations, while food stalls offer sandwiches, mulled wine, and traditional 'fagioli grassi' (fat beans), served during the procession toward the Juventus Club.

The Little Raner Carnival

Alongside the adult festivities, Feletto dedicates a special day to the Little Raner, designed for the younger generation. The town's preschools and elementary schools parade in costume, participate in a confetti hunt, and join in games organized by local associations, with prizes awarded for the most original and fun masks. The Pro Loco Feletto nel Cuore sets up food stands serving sweet and savory crepes to accompany the celebration.

A Canavese Carnival

The Raner Carnival is one of many festivals that animate the towns of the Canavese between February and March—a hilly, agricultural area of the Province of Turin with deep-rooted rural traditions. Attending it means discovering a genuine local tradition, far from the major tourist flows and deeply tied to the identity of the Feletto community.

Raner Carnival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Raner Carnival in Feletto took place on Sunday, March 8, with a day entirely dedicated to the Little Raner: presentation of the masks with the Filarmonica Felettese, procession to the Juventus Club, school masked parade, confetti hunt, and awards for the most original costumes.

On Sunday, March 8, 2026, Feletto celebrated its Carnival with a day designed especially for the little ones. In the morning at 11:00 AM, in Piazza Martiri della Libertà, the presentation of the Little Raner took place, accompanied by the Filarmonica Felettese.
