Three days of free concerts across Ragusa Superiore, Ibla, and the seaside
Every year, on the occasion of the European Music Day on June 21st, the Music Festival turns Ragusa into one large urban orchestra. Promoted by the Sicilia Event association with the patronage of the Municipality of Ragusa, the event brings dozens of free concerts to the city's public spaces, from the Marina di Ragusa seafront to the Baroque heart of Ragusa Ibla, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The concept is simple yet powerful: to have music played everywhere, for free, in squares, on staircases, in courtyards, and along the streets of the center. For three days, from the afternoon until late at night, the city becomes a sprawling stage where professional musicians and amateurs share the same space with the audience.
The Music Festival in Ragusa is traditionally divided into three moments, each linked to a different area of the city, in the province of Ragusa, in south-eastern Sicily:
Among the most beloved projects is «100 Guitars 1000 Voices», an open invitation for guitarists of all levels to play together in a group, symbolizing the participatory spirit of the Festival. The program ranges across diverse genres — brass bands, singer-songwriter music, pop, rock, jazz, Sicilian folk, swing, Argentine tango, and world music — with over thirty concerts and hundreds of artists involved.
The event is organized in collaboration with local natural shopping centers, including Antica Ibla and I Tre Ponti, and with the Pro Loco Mazzarelli for the Marina di Ragusa leg. Admission to all events is completely free.
The Music Festival is the perfect opportunity to discover Ragusa Ibla in a festive atmosphere, strolling through Baroque architecture while music accompanies every corner. It is an event that highlights the deep bond between the city and its cultural vocation, and it is a staple of the calendar of events that enliven the Iblean summer.
The 2026 edition opened on Friday, June 19th at 5:30 PM in Ragusa Superiore, with music taking over the center starting from Piazza San Giovanni, Piazza Poste, and Via Roma, ranging from brass bands and singer-songwriter music to pop and rock.
The highlight day took place in the Baroque heart of Ragusa Ibla, from 7:30 PM, with numerous concerts spread across squares and streets:
For the European Music Day, the festival moved to the Marina di Ragusa promenade (from 6:30 PM), with the stage curated by Pro Loco Mazzarelli, while the national program «Nati per la Musica» dedicated to children was also offered in Ragusa.
All concerts were free of charge.
