The autumn festival of Villanova with traditions, a market, and seasonal flavors
Saint Martin's Summer is that brief return of good weather that, according to tradition, accompanies November 11th. In Villanova di Pordenone, a hamlet of the Friulian capital, these days become an occasion for a festival celebrating rural traditions and autumn flavors, organized by Pro Loco Pordenone at the "Armando Lupieri" Sports Center.
It's a festival that smells of the season: new wine, chestnuts, and autumn sweets provide the backdrop for a weekend dedicated to peasant memory, craftsmanship, and conviviality.
Among the offerings are the Christmas market and local craft exhibitions, the evocative vintage agricultural tools display that tells the story of past farm work, and photographic and vintage exhibitions with clothes and memories from bygone eras. There are also demonstrations of ancient crafts, such as glassblowing by master craftsmen from Murano.
Saint Martin's Summer is also designed for the little ones, with workshops, educational activities, and moments dedicated to children. Rounding out the program are walks and bike rides—including inclusive options—that invite you to enjoy the last warmth of autumn outdoors.
The festival is a fine example of the vitality of Friulian Pro Loco associations and their connection to the territory. Villanova, on the outskirts of Pordenone, welcomes visitors for a weekend of tradition and good food, a short distance from the city center, a candidate for Italian Capital of Culture 2027.
