Figure theatre returns to the artists' village of Bussana Vecchia
The Puppet Festival takes place in Bussana Vecchia, a hamlet of Sanremo (province of Imperia) famous for its peculiar history: destroyed by the earthquake of 1887 and abandoned, it was 'reoccupied' starting from the Sixties by an international community of artists, who have made it a unique village, with its ateliers, alleys, and living ruins.
The festival, dedicated to figure theatre and puppets, brings performances designed for families and children to the village squares, but capable of engaging adults too. The setting of Bussana Vecchia, with its timeless artistic atmosphere, makes every performance a evocative experience.
Recently established, the festival is part of the rich cultural calendar of Sanremo and enhances a hamlet of great charm, offering an alternative and poetic event, far from the city's major events but deeply connected to its artistic soul.
The 2026 edition, the second, is scheduled for Sunday, April 5 in Bussana Vecchia. At 4:30 PM, in Piazza della Chiesa Grande, Teatro dell'Attrito presents the show 'Triquadro', inspired by Italo Cammarata.
Detailed program with any other events will be announced by the organization closer to the date.
Bussana Vecchia can be reached by car from the Via Aurelia at the Bussana junction, heading up towards the village (parking nearby, then pedestrian access). The nearest train station is Sanremo.
Free admission to performances, unless otherwise stated.
