Street music from around the world among the canals of Little Venice
For over twenty-five years, Comacchio has opened the festivities of the Ferrara Buskers Festival, the most important international event dedicated to street musicians and artists. A few days before the festival invades the historic center of Ferrara, the lagoon town in the province of Ferrara, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, hosts a selection of buskers for a free preview evening that has become a regular fixture of the Comacchio summer.
What makes this preview special is the setting: Comacchio, nicknamed Little Venice for its canals, monumental bridges, and pastel-colored houses, offers a unique backdrop. Musicians set up along the canals, on the famous Trepponti bridge, in the small squares, and in the alleys of the historic center, creating a widespread path of music and entertainment that the public discovers by strolling from one corner to another. It's a different and more intimate way to experience street music, away from the crowds of the main Ferrara event.
The preview's lineup brings together about twenty artists and groups each year, both Italian and international, spanning the most diverse genres: from folk to blues, from tango to gypsy, from singer-songwriter to world music, as well as juggling and one-man bands. These are the same performers who will liven up the streets of Ferrara in the following days, and who offer a first taste of their repertoire in Comacchio in a more intimate setting.
The preview traditionally takes place on Sunday evening, from 9 PM to midnight, with completely free admission. It's an event designed for families, residents, and tourists who flock to the Ferrara coast and the Po Delta Park in August, just a few kilometers from Comacchio. A simple and festive evening that combines the magic of the place with the quality of the artists, and ideally inaugurates the great street music festival that transforms Ferrara into the world capital of buskers every late August.
The 2026 preview of the Ferrara Buskers Festival takes place in Comacchio on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 9:00 PM to midnight, with free admission. As tradition dictates, the musicians and street artists selected for the event will animate the canals, bridges, and squares of the historic center, offering a first taste of the Ferrara festival.
The evening precedes the 39th edition of the Ferrara Buskers Festival, which will be held in the historic center of Ferrara from August 26 to 30, 2026, with artists from dozens of countries.
The detailed program and the list of artists for the Comacchio preview will be announced in the weeks preceding the event, on the festival's official channels.
The detailed lineup for the 2026 preview in Comacchio, including the complete list of musicians and street artists, will be published by the organization in the weeks leading up to the event.
