Pragis Park – Summer Race Day and Summer Night

A day of sports and celebration at the foot of the Dolomites

The Pragis Park – Summer Race Day and Summer Night is the summer festival held at Pragis Park, the new recreational park in Braies/Prags, in the heart of the Upper Puster Valley, in the Province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). Organized by the Braies Sports Association (Sportverein Prags), the event transforms the park for an entire day into a large space for play, movement, and socializing, open to the whole family.

Where it takes place

The heart of the event is Pragis Park, located in the hamlet of Schmieden/Ferrara, in Außerprags, just a short distance from the local fire station. This recently built park is easily recognizable by its large deer-shaped climbing structure, surrounded by wide green meadows and shady trees, and connected to the valley's hiking and cycling trails. Its location, at the gateway to the famous Braies Valley and Lake Braies, makes it a natural meeting point for both locals and visitors spending their holidays in this corner of the Dolomites.

The daily program

The daytime program is primarily dedicated to children, featuring a kids' bike race that starts at the entrance of the Braies Valley and continues toward Schmieden/Ferrara. Young participants are advised to bring their own bicycles, helmets, water bottles, and sunscreen. Alongside the race, the park offers games, physical activities, and entertainment designed to involve the entire family in a day dedicated to sports, joy, and community spirit.

The social evening

As evening falls, the festivities continue: the Summer Night wraps up the day with a social gathering featuring food, drinks, and musical entertainment. It is the perfect opportunity for residents and visitors alike to come together and extend the festive atmosphere late into the night in one of the most charming valleys in South Tyrol.

Promoted by the local Sports Association, the event is an authentic expression of village life in Braies: one of those moments when a small mountain community opens its park to families and guests, blending sports, tradition, and hospitality.
