The grand festival of Lavis' historic center, held among arcades, courtyards, and squares
Porteghi e Spiazi is the major summer event in Lavis, a town in the Piana Rotaliana in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). The name, in the local Trentino dialect, refers to the porticoes (porteghi) and open spaces (spiazi) of the old village. For an entire weekend in July, the historic center comes alive, turning entryways, courtyards, doorways, and small squares into places of celebration, meeting, and conviviality. Born in the late nineties as a local village fair, it has established itself over the years as one of the most cherished community festivals in Trentino.
The heart of the festival is volunteer work. The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Lavis, which coordinates about twenty local associations and hundreds of volunteers every year. They are the ones who manage the numerous food and wine stands scattered throughout the center, set up the spaces, and animate the evenings. This collective spirit is the true hallmark of Porteghi e Spiazi, where every corner of the village tells the story of a different association's commitment.
The program weaves together several themes throughout the weekend:
Nestled where the Avisio stream meets the Adige river, just north of Trento, Lavis has been a crossroads for centuries along the ancient Via Claudia Augusta, which connected the Latin and Germanic worlds. Its historic center, with its typical arcades and internal courtyards, provides the ideal setting for a festival that celebrates the village's identity and the food and wine culture of Trentino. Today, Porteghi e Spiazi is a fixed appointment in the Rotaliana summer, capable of attracting thousands of visitors to Lavis.
With free admission and designed for all age groups, the event brings together families, young people, and food lovers in a festive and genuine atmosphere. Three days to discover Lavis while strolling through arcades and squares, between a concert and a glass of local wine, immersed in the warm hospitality of Trentino.
From July 10th to 12th, 2026, the historic center of Lavis hosts the twenty-eighth edition of Porteghi e Spiazi, with about 400 volunteers and 22 associations involved in the ten food and wine stands distributed among the arcades, courtyards, and squares of the village. The President of the Autonomous Province of Trento and institutional representatives will also be present at the inauguration.
Among the key moments, on Saturday, July 11th at 9:30 PM, the concert by Raphael Gualazzi with the Funky Beat Band, celebrating 40 years of activity; on Sunday, July 12th, the comedy show in Trentino dialect by Loredana Cont, "Pú busie che poesie". Among this year's novelties is the "Black Mirror" escape room at Casa Clementi and the baby funfair for the little ones. There is also space for motors with the "TratTour" tractor parade on Saturday morning and the motorcycle rally on Sunday, as well as workshops for children, charity markets, second-hand book stalls, and the "Vincenzo Pistocchi" national poetry prize.
