About Porteghi e Spiazi

For three days every July, the historic center of Lavis in the Piana Rotaliana transforms into a vast open-air stage. Arcades, courtyards, and squares open their doors to music, gastronomy, performances, and activities for all ages. Organized by the Pro Loco of Lavis with over twenty associations and hundreds of volunteers, Porteghi e Spiazi is one of the most popular community festivals in Trentino, with free admission.

Porteghi e Spiazi, the festival that opens the heart of Lavis

Porteghi e Spiazi is the major summer event in Lavis, a town in the Piana Rotaliana in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). The name, in the local Trentino dialect, refers to the porticoes (porteghi) and open spaces (spiazi) of the old village. For an entire weekend in July, the historic center comes alive, turning entryways, courtyards, doorways, and small squares into places of celebration, meeting, and conviviality. Born in the late nineties as a local village fair, it has established itself over the years as one of the most cherished community festivals in Trentino.

An event built by volunteers

The heart of the festival is volunteer work. The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Lavis, which coordinates about twenty local associations and hundreds of volunteers every year. They are the ones who manage the numerous food and wine stands scattered throughout the center, set up the spaces, and animate the evenings. This collective spirit is the true hallmark of Porteghi e Spiazi, where every corner of the village tells the story of a different association's commitment.

Music, shows, and flavors

The program weaves together several themes throughout the weekend:

  • Gastronomy: dozens of stands featuring traditional Trentino dishes, local products, and wines from the Piana Rotaliana, the land of Teroldego.
  • Live music and DJ sets in the squares and courtyards, with concerts ranging from local bands to nationally renowned guests.
  • Theater and comedy shows, often in the Trentino dialect, which are very popular with local audiences.
  • Activities for children and families: creative workshops, funfairs, and games.
  • Exhibitions, markets, and gatherings, from vintage vehicles to charity stalls and second-hand book sales.

Lavis and the Piana Rotaliana

Nestled where the Avisio stream meets the Adige river, just north of Trento, Lavis has been a crossroads for centuries along the ancient Via Claudia Augusta, which connected the Latin and Germanic worlds. Its historic center, with its typical arcades and internal courtyards, provides the ideal setting for a festival that celebrates the village's identity and the food and wine culture of Trentino. Today, Porteghi e Spiazi is a fixed appointment in the Rotaliana summer, capable of attracting thousands of visitors to Lavis.

An event for everyone

With free admission and designed for all age groups, the event brings together families, young people, and food lovers in a festive and genuine atmosphere. Three days to discover Lavis while strolling through arcades and squares, between a concert and a glass of local wine, immersed in the warm hospitality of Trentino.

Porteghi e Spiazi — edition 2026

The 28th edition of Porteghi e Spiazi takes place in Lavis from Friday, July 10th to Sunday, July 12th, 2026. Organized by the Pro Loco with 22 associations and about 400 volunteers, the festival brings the historic center to life with ten food and wine stands, concerts, shows, and many activities for children and families. Free admission.

2026 Edition — the 28th
