The great patronal festival of Chions
In the Pordenone plain, where the Sile river flows between fields and ancient villages, the municipality of Chions celebrates its patron saints, Ermacora and Fortunato, the first martyrs of the church of Aquileia and central figures of Friulian devotion. The patronal festival, organized by Pro Loco Chions since 1979, has become over the years one of the most important and anticipated summer festivals in the area.
The gastronomic heart of the festival is rich and well-organized: barbecued meat grills, fresh gnocchi with various toppings, even Sicilian arancini and vegetarian options for every taste. An efficient ordering system eliminates queues, a sign of a well-oiled organizational machine. Everything takes place in Piazza Concordato, at the town's sports facilities.
The evenings are enlivened by live orchestras with a free-entry dance floor, while a dedicated youth area offers DJ sets and music for the younger audience. For families, there is a funfair for children, and the program also includes sporting events such as the green volley tournament and the motorcycle rally. A complete festival, capable of appealing to all generations.
The San Ermacora Festivities are certified as Ecofesta, an award that recognizes the commitment to waste reduction and the sustainability of the event. Added value for a village festival that, while rooted in religious tradition, looks responsibly to the future.
The 2026 edition of the San Ermacora Festivities is expected at the usual time at the end of July, linked to the feast of Saints Ermacora and Fortunato. The festival, organized by Pro Loco Chions, confirms the proven formula that combines gastronomy, music for all ages, and attention to environmental sustainability.
The exact dates and detailed program will be announced by Pro Loco Chions in the weeks prior. Based on the 2025 edition — held from July 18 to 29 — the festival usually includes:
