A day as a firefighter for children and families
Pompieropoli is the summer event that the Fiavé Volunteer Fire Department dedicates to children and families. In the town of Fiavé, nestled in the Giudicarie Valley in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige, the fire station opens its doors and transforms into a large educational playground where children can step into the shoes of firefighters, test their skills, and discover the world of emergency services up close.
The heart of the event is the junior firefighter course: a miniature obstacle track that replicates, on a child-friendly scale, the typical tasks performed by firefighters. Ladders, tunnels, balance tests, and skill challenges guide participants through a fun and educational experience, always supervised by the department's volunteers.
Pompieropoli is also an opportunity for the Fiavé community to come together and thank the volunteer firefighters who serve the town every day. The afternoon is filled with performances and side events, while the refreshment area, managed in collaboration with the Fiavé youth group, remains open until evening. At the end of the day, every child receives an official participation diploma as a junior firefighter.
The event takes place in summer, during July, at the Fiavé Volunteer Fire Department station. Fiavé is a small town in the Province of Trento, overlooking the peat bog of the same name and famous for its UNESCO World Heritage pile-dwelling site. Admission is free, and the event is designed for families with children of all ages.
The fifth edition of Pompieropoli is expected in Fiavé on Sunday, July 26, 2026. As per tradition, the day organized by the Fiavé Volunteer Fire Department will feature the junior firefighter obstacle course, water games, station tours, and live demonstrations by the cadets, with refreshments available until evening and the customary participation diploma for all children.
The full schedule and any special guests for the 2026 edition will be announced by the organizers as the date approaches.
Fiavé can be reached by car via the SS237 del Caffaro road, a short distance from the Trentino side of Lake Garda and the Giudicarie valleys. The town is also connected by the Trentino Trasporti public bus network.
Free entry. Comfortable clothing is recommended for children participating in the obstacle course and water games.
Refreshment service available until evening, organized in collaboration with the Fiavé youth group.
