About Polpette & Beat

Polpette & Beat is the summer event that transforms the historic center of Capurso, in the province of Bari, into a village of flavors and live music. Between Piazza Gramsci and the alleys of the old town, the 'polpetta capursese'—an anti-waste food that has become a symbol of local identity—meets vinyl DJ sets, swing dancing, street bands, and craft markets from sunset until midnight. A convivial festival that blends gastronomy, tradition, and rhythm in one of the most anticipated evenings of the summer in Capurso.

A village of flavors and music in the heart of Capurso

Every summer, Polpette & Beat lights up the historic center of Capurso, a town in the Metropolitan City of Bari, in Puglia. At dusk, Piazza Gramsci and the most characteristic alleys of the old town transform into a journey of taste and music: amidst soft lighting and kitchen aromas, the event guides residents and visitors from sunset until midnight in an atmosphere of authentic, popular celebration.

The polpetta capursese, queen of the table

The heart of the event is the Capurso meatball, a beloved dish of Puglian cuisine that here becomes an emblem of conviviality. Born as an anti-waste and recycling food, the meatball is the perfect street food: tasty, nutritious, and affordable. During the evenings, guests can sample traditional and creative meatballs, craft beers, and local specialties, thanks to the participation of local producers and the town's own brewery. The Polpette & Beat experience has inspired the sustainable identity project known as «Polpetta di Capurso», linked to the municipality's anti-waste policies and local solidarity associations.

Live music, DJ sets, and swing dancing

Alongside the food, the event offers a rich musical program: live performances, vinyl DJ sets, roving street bands, and swing dancing that engages the public between bites. Folk-pop collectives, brass bands, and the Lindy Hop dance community bring the two evenings to life, creating a festive vibe that weaves together gastronomy and rhythm.

More than just food: markets and crafts

  • Vintage markets and local crafts along the town center streets
  • Workshops and activities dedicated to food culture
  • Food & beverage stands with typical Puglian products
  • Evening strolls through the illuminated historic center

A landmark event for the community

More than just a food festival, Polpette & Beat is a project for regional promotion supported by the Municipality of Capurso, capable of uniting culinary tradition, sustainability, and music in a formula that has captured the hearts of the local community and visitors from the Bari metropolitan area.

Polpette & Beat — edition 2026

Following the success of the summer evenings that combined the 'polpetta capursese' with live music, Polpette & Beat is expected to return in the summer of 2026 in the historic center of Capurso. As of the time of writing, the official dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the Municipality of Capurso: we recommend checking for updates on the official city channels.

The 2026 edition of Polpette & Beat in Capurso has not yet been officially scheduled. Based on previous editions, the event is typically held in July between Piazza Gramsci and the alleys of the old town, featuring street food based on the 'polpetta capursese', vinyl DJ sets, street bands, and swing dancing. Dates, artists, and the detailed program will be announced by the Municipality of Capurso in the weeks leading up to the event.
